Brawl Review:

A few quick things. One, you still come off as an AVGN-ripoff. Yeah, you have that "inspired by" - blurb at the end of the video, and it doesn't really bother me that much (except when you start chaining fecal references into minute-long rants), but you're bound to catch flak on it if an AVGN nazi happens to see your video. More originality doesn't hurt.

Two: You don't shout too much, which is still good. The gags weren't bad (I haven't beaten classic with Diddy yet) IMO.

Three: I realize that this is supposed to be a rant of sorts, but I'd still like to hear some bases for your comments. Why does Brawl rock/suck? Nobody on the internet lives under rocks anymore (I hope), but some backing up, even on the good points never hurts. You did elaborate on SSE's flaws, but that came off as nitpicking.

Four: That music you called garbage? It's the Skyworld (final stage) theme from Kid Icarus.

Oh, and I pretty much disagree with almost everything you said about SSE, but that's another thing.

Oh yeah, and a quick thing: Don't fret if I come across as overly critical, I just happen to write like that. You're already better than some "reviewers" I've seen on several video sites, keep it up. :p

For starters - I like watching bad games being torn to pieces as much as the next person, but aren't licensed games like Barbie a little too easy to shred?

As for your AVGN influences (down to the white collar shirt) - yep, they're pretty obvious, and you even sound a bit like him, but I've already said my piece about those. Change the name, though - Annoyed Gaming Geek sounds kinda bland IMO, even generic. And try to record your rants in another room if possible, the echo is quite noticeable in the "live" segments.

Are you scripting your reviews? If not, you may want to try that.

To sum up:

- Originality never hurts, especially in the humor department (but you'll find your gig in time)
- You're neither shouting too much nor giving arbitrary points, which is good
- Always try to justify your complaints/praise, even in short rants if you can (more of a reminder than advice, you're already doing OK at this IMO)
- This may seem like an odd thing to say to a guy who rants about bad games, but avoid focusing on minor issues too much. Even if it's justified, it becomes annoying and can distract the viewer - and the reviewer - from bigger problems in the game (Ie. bitching about the birds in the Sonic Riders video when the game controls like a truck in free-fall)
- Don't force your gags, especially the fecal matter jokes.

If I had to grade you, I'd give you a C+ on your reviews at the moment. Keep working on them, and you'll do fine.
