I think the entire world will suddenly buy PS3s.  BAM!  PS3 domination.  It'll hit you so fast and hard you'll be blinded by the sheer Blu intensity of it... in HD! PS3s will be flying off the shelves so fast you'll have to duck or get your head cut off.  All 360 consoles will suddenly realize they cannot compete with the PS3's sheer level of awesome and they will all spontaneously explode in Blu flames of glory... in HD!  And on that one day, all Wii owners will throw away their Wiis causing a massive garbage overflow which somehow all gets sent to New Jersery causing the locals to rename the entire city Wii Jersey as discarded Wiis flow through the streets like a raging river in what will eventually be named "The running of the Wiis." Also on that day, the hardcore overrun the casuals in a bloody massacre that shall forever be known to future generations as the "PRICE DROP." Be afraid. Be very afraid. PS3 domination is coming... in HD!

That's what I think anyway. 

I would expect a PS3 price cut before Nintendo's next console launches.

The PS3 is certainly on track to surpass the 360; that's just a given at this point. But a small jump in sales from one game (or two, or three, or even ten) is not going to push it permanently ahead of the Wii. The "more, bigger, better" path has not helped it so far, and there's no reason to assume that it suddenly will, either.

What it will take for the PS3 to have a solid chance against the Wii is something truly disruptive being introduced which cannot be replicated easily on any other system. A feature which relies on some unique quality of the PS3, and which is valued by a myriad of customers (potential and present) instead of just a niche group like the dedicated fanbase.

I think the PS3 will have a solid chance against the Wii once the PS3 price is lower. Many people would like a PS3, but $400 is still too much for them.

Wow a lack of faith from many of the members here perhaps. Well i dont see why it is impossible, MGS4 beat everyones expectations in Japan so why cant the same apply here.

Maybe, but only time will tell.

I finally have all 3 consoles, and yes I did buy the PS3 a week ago when it was essentially $299. $399 with a 100 gift card at Wal-mart online store. That was the factor that got me to buy one.  I think I still like my 360 more though at least when it comes to games they are better.

So yes I agree $299 is the sweet spot.
