You do know that JRPGs dont sell too good on the 360 right? The JRPGs that were announced as timed or fully exclusive will not make a difference on hardware sales, all it would do is stop the PS3 from outselling the 360 as much as it would if the PS3 had those JRPGs. Japan doesn't like the 360, and those JRPGs were announced to target the Japanese market, Fact. You really think that with Gears Of War 2, as hugely anticipated like u said earlier, people will stop to play The Last Remnant this winter? I know that u can argue that they r different genres so they are targeting different ppl, true, but based off of the 360's library of games and based on what sells and what doesnt, you really think that new 360 owners would be buying it for their "rpg games" when theres Gears 1,2 Halo 3, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Orange Box and other GREAT games out there? I dont think so. So like I said, JRPGs going to the 360 will not make a difference on hardware sales (although those games are gonna be great)

Actually, Lost Odyssey has surpassed 700,000 copies sold to consumers and is growing quickly. Blue Dragon has sold half a million. The former is definitely profitable, the later must be close.

Do you have any evidence that the PS3 sells JRPG's?

So far the only games closely definable to the genre on that system are Disgaea 3, which has sold 110,000 thousand and Valkyrie Chronicles, which has sold only 130,000. Granted, these titles are yet to be released in the West, but its doubtful they will meet with success.

I dont get your Gears/Mass Effect/Bioshock argument? Are you saying the 360's line-up is so strong people wont have time to play JRPG's? And that this is different for PS3 owners, who with little else to play WILL have time for JRPG's?

Starcraft just pwned another SONY fanboy!!!!

Good I only have to quote one time to answer both of you. First of all, im not a sony fanboy, thats just wat I see. I havent been here long enough for anybody to think that im a "sony fanboy". Wow, I didn't know that sony fanboys give alot of credit to great 360 games, man I guess my fanboyish ways are outta whack *rolls eyes*.

@Starcraft

700k on an installed base that large is not that impressive, and I like how u "forgot" to mention Eternal Sonata's sales. My point in bringing up those games is that those games are generally what 360 owners go for. Im not saying ALL of them, but generally a good portion. It dates back to the original Xbox, which is why JRPGs dont sell well because there werent many rpgs back in the Xbox, so it has been branded by the masses as just shooters which isnt true. Although u r right, that there is no evidence that PS3 sells JRPGs, but if current PS3 owners were previous PS2 owners (like me), that would be a good chance that they like JRPGs and have a higher chance of buying JRPGs. Im not saying that they will automatically sell more than Lost Oddisey (honestly, I dont think Disgaea 3 or Valkyria Chronicles will sell 700k or more), all im saying is that JRPGs have a greater chance of selling on PS3 than on the 360 beause the PS3 has the japanese market (even though that doesnt look like its working much for the PS3). LOL nice way to spin that Starcraft, PS3 doesnt have games so we have time to play JRPGs, lol u r a genius man.

libellule, you my friend, are a brilliant man.

. It's quite a bit more realistic in terms of racing

And I am pretty sure that only a non-significant minority cares. I like the realistic feel of GT-5p. But would I like it to be more realistic? Probably not if I switch off too many electronic helpers I have no chance anyway.

The awesome cars on the other hand make a big difference. I never liked racing but I loved GT5. Because the R6 looked and felt like the real thing. Polyphony pours incredible resources into making the cars look as realistic as possible and it really brings results.

And the sales numbers show that this is not only my perception

when in the last 3 weeks 3 non JRPG games were cancelled for PS3

Two of these were from SONY. So thats hardly an indication of flagging support .

GT5 to be honest is of course a good racer, but after playing GT5:P online I'd rather wait for Forza 3

May be true for you but if you look at past sales Forza cannot even hold the motor oil of Gran Turismo. I am not surprised about this too. The unbelievable realism of the cars in Gran Turismo Prologue isn't even tried in Forza.

Forza is picking up steam(if yu look at sales for 1 vs 2.) And the thing is the cars look great in GT5:P but its a racing game simulation, and at that Forza 2 is better.

Edit: From Sony or not thats 2 games less that I understand were in development for over a year.

Ok...to claim that Forza is in any way better then the GT series is just flat out dilusional.  The GT series is the premier series in racing across all consoles and sales of past versions reflect that.  Last time I checked GT had over 20x the total sales as Forza and all the rest of the sorry xbox/360 only racing games.  I mean seriously, thats like saying that Paris Hilton movie the Hottie or the Nottie trumps Iron Man.

If GT5 doesn't sell 10 million or more worldwide this generation I would be shocked beyond belief.  I just wish they could get it out by years end to seriously impact the holiday season.

PSN ID: ChosenOne feel free to add me

^^ So you are saying that sales mean quality? In that case, Kangaroo Jack is an amazing movie because it was #1 at the boxoffice the week it came out.

So you are saying that sales mean quality?

No but they correlate more often than not. A game series that has 5? 10m sellers in its history implies some quality .
And I think we came to this topic because we talked about the future prospects of the PS3 against the 360. And here past sales really matter. Forza3 won't annul Gran Turismo 5 we can be sure about that.

... toward Sony.

The Xbox360 is installed and possess a complete 2007/2008 line-up with some great titles. It is quite affordable and is second in the console war by a significative margin.

At the opposite, the PS3 is third, is quite expensive, the multiplateform titles are cancelled (red alert3) or delayed (alone in the dark4). In a way there is nothing that could save it.

But ...

... ... it is not anymore bashed by the media !!!

Just look at the 3 last examples :

- GTA4 : despite the lack of futur episodic content on the PS3, no version was really pushed by the different online websites as if the 2 versions were really egual.

- Resistance2 vs Gear of War2 : the 2 first games get quite different score and hype. One is considered as a masterpiece in term of gameplay (copied in many games) and another one is considered as an average/good game, interesting but not so amazing. One killed the PS3 release in 2006 while the other was barely able to save her. The sequels will soon be released. And you know what ?

Gear1 < Gear2
R1 <<< R2
R2 > Gear2

Resistance2 is more anticipated than Gear of War2 since it is expected to bring more news ideas !

- MGS4 : despite MGS4 being a very hardcore game and having a complicated story, people are putting 9/10 or even 10/10 to the game. Even Gamespot gave a 10/10 !
I was expecting MGS4 to be more bashed, not to be praised by everybody !
It is a bit like Halo3/Bioshock : media are putting perfect score to MGS4 despite having some flaws and being quite special (complex story, sometimes weird, complex control)

But you know what ?

MGS4 is PS3 exclusive for the moment while Halo3/Bioshock were Xbox360 exclusive !!!!

The wind has turned and I believe MS will not be able to fight back.
Everybody is now pushing the PS3 and Sony over MS and their Xbox360.

BUT WHY ????

==> becuase the industry follow the sales and is able to see how Sony is fighting back since 6 months : better sales (THX BEST MOVE EVER 40gb with NO BC) and better line-up compared to 2007.

Advice to MS : next time kill the beast in the egg ...

Some Words of Wisdom to folks that like to say that MS is not here to make but just to counter Sony :
you have to understand this is precisely because MS didn't drop the price sooner AND because GTA4 full exclusivity was not secured by them that the PS3 was able to "go out of the wood". MS truly want to earn money and that is why there were not so agressive in term of price drop and offer during the first years : more money for them but a PS3 still alive.

Yeah, I agree. Microsft should have taken a loss and completely crushed PS3 last year. When PS3 was $600 and dying, Microsft should have taken the initiave and cut their own machine down $100 to $300, then bragged how their machine was half the price. Sony at that point would've skipped the $100 price cut and would of gone straight down to $400. I can't rember if the arcade was out at that time or not; if it wasn't, microsft should have debutted it at $229.99. If it was, Microsft should have lowered its price to $200 and had the core at $250. PS3 I think would still be on life support at this time, and after this E3 be looking dead. Or Sony would be deep deep deep in the red while Microsft was only deep in the red.

Your making a statement about GT having 4 games so far that sold incredibly well, however you forget that fom GT1 - GT3 it had no competition. Mot people when the first Forza came out didnt even realise it was there. Forza and GT both strive for realistic racing. And Forza 2 without a doubt is the best simulation on and offline. Offline the AI is better and Online the damage element stops little idiots ramming you off the road. However the actuall car handling is abot the same on both games. Overall both call themselves simulators and Forza 2 has the crown, although not in sales. However i explained that reason in my opening.

Hawkeye and MakoInfused

 thx for ur support

Selnor and the X team :

- about games cancellation :

You are right, games were cancelled.

But where is the PS3 bashing ???

People dont care about 8days or Gateway because these were not recently hyped by Sony. They were sort of "shadow projects" that we expected, maybe, to have some news at E3. At the end, it si not so bad for the PS3.
And as said someone : it is sony themselve that is cancelled these games, not third parties.

- about games secured by MS (JRPG form SE)

you are right, but where is the PS3 bashing ???

In fact, people dont care because they have FFXIII ...

Anothers 2 "uninspired average FF clone" for the Xbox360, ENJOY !!!

- about GT vs Forza :

Yes, Forza is said to be very good, no doubt on this.

But, plz, in term of sales, this is a non event compared to GT ...
Without the special bundle, the was released during several months, Forza2 sales would be pretty average ...

Time to Work !

@libellule

oh but T3H budget of MGS4 = 10000000 million.....its d00000med

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey
