PS3 outsells 360 in USA [News]

Despite the arrival of GTA IV, the Wii has once again dominated console sales in the US.
The NPD market research group has published its US hardware and software sales figures for May, and things are continuing to look rosy for Nintendo in the good ol’ US of A.
Despite widespread predictions that the arrival of GTA IV would result in a sales surge for the 360 and PS3, the Wii comfortably outsold the two platforms by a margin of more than three-to-one respectively, selling a total of 675,100 units.
The next best placed current-gen console was the PS3, which finished third with 208,700 – a rise of 21,600 consoles sold on the previous month.
While Sony would undoubtedly have hoped for a bigger increase than that thanks to GTA IV’s arrival, it could have been worse – the 360 (which was fourth in the chart with 186,600 consoles sold) actually saw sales dip by 1400 units compared to the previous month.
But while 360 sales may have dropped, the 360 version of GTA IV still set the pace in the software charts, edging out Mario Kart and Wii Fit. The PS3 version of GTA IV was fourth.

this is begining to puzzle me somewhat, if the 360 is cheaper to buy than ps3 in NA, how come microsoft couldnt sell more consoles over the gta4 frenzy than the ps3 could? the article states 360 sold less during gta4 month. do you think this is microsoft fault for not advertising it more than they could have done.
good job on the software sales on 360 though for gta4, but you would have thought in NA the 360 stonghold it would have shifted much more consoles.
...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...
