Lost Odyssey will reach that total of 1 million by the end of 2008.

Unless it get a price drop around the holidays, I don't see it happening. The new "hot" always buries the old, and SE has the name behind their RPGs, wheather you like them or not.

Not necessarily, we've seen time and again that large launches can boost sales for all games on a given platform. The reason is that many more people are in the stores that would ordinarily not be. They see other games similar to the ones they like/are buying and may pick them up as well.

@RPGJock

You're basically saying that people would be more interested in getting IU and The Last Remnant than LO, am I correct?

Yes, that is what I am saying. I think thier are fans of just Square Enix as a whole, that would pick up an RPG, in hopes that its the same stuff of FF or DQ.  I do admit that if alot of RPG fan jump on board this year because the mountains of RPG (both western and japanese) are releasing for the X360 this year, that LO will be one of those I have to get that one two.  Problem is it will have competition when IU, The Last Reminant, Too Human, Fallout 3, and the engima Fable 2 come out this year.  Older games get looked at last unless they figure they can't ger on the cheap.  And since reseller don't count as game sells, I don't see a major boost unless you have price drop on a title.

I'm just saying...

I definitely think that it will reach 1 million before this year is out and if not early next year. I actually feel a bit sorry for mistwalker as they almost singularly created the JRPG market on the 360, they put in the hard yards and now I think all the big profile releases have a definite chance of reaching a million thanks to them.

Before FF13 is even released, the X360 will have:

Lost Odyssey - 1 million
Tales of Vesperia - 750,000
Infinite Undiscovery - 750,000
Star Ocean 4 - 1 million
The Last Remnant - close to 1 million

Not to mention the biggest W-RPG on consoles this gen:

Fable 2 - over 4 million and counting.

It's not impossible for Final Fantasy 13 to outsell all those games (minus Fable) combined.

very good game it will hit a million copies sold to cunsomers

I hope not really hate that game there is better JRPGS on 360.

Enchanted Arms was generic

Blue Dragon was generic and a pretty big disappointment

Heard Eternal Sonata was pretty good but only played demo

Lost Odyssey has frame rate issues and what not but it doesn't break the game at all unlike some other games i.e.Killzone

Bull. Blue Dragon was a good game as long as you could stomach the generic chars and storyline. The game pacing got pretty damn good the last two disks, the toriyama monster designs are as usual excellent (it's a pitty their engine didn't support facial animations) and the ending setting makes the lack of a BD2 a damn shame.

Not only were BDs characters generic, they were also pretty annoying especially Maromaro.  Zola wasn't bad but that didn't make up for anything

Well, if BD, Eternal sonata and LO all were weak'ish in quality - and I guess that argument is valid since they all hover around that 80% mark on GR - their sales achievment was even better.

It strengthens the argument that JRPGs have big sales potential on the X360, and we've only seen the start.

I wonder how well LO, ES, and BD would have done if the gamerankings average for all of them were 90%

It can do a million before the end of the year. More people are likely to pick up the 360 now for JPRG's and this will be on their list.

I just borrowed the game off a friend and i'm very impressed with it so i hope it does do a million. You certainly get your moneys worth for 4 discs!

I found Marumaru fun, but that's probably because it's the only character which isn't just a puppet spouting lines. He was totally cilche, tho.

The game had great strengths tho: no random encounters, you could interact with the monsters on the field (in several ways!), the barrier mechanic gave a good reason to revisit zones, toripo was fun to meet (the final revelation about him is so funky) and I am repeating myself but the setting of the world at the end of the game makes me hungry for BD2, specially if you consider that the final dungeon was nothing but awesome. IMHO, besides the characters/story the only thing the game needed was a good crafting system.

And as it has been stated, mistwalker got things rolling jrpg-wise on the 360 and since the console is so unpopular there the gooch had to take the hit of two games with sub 250k sales in japan with his name big on the game's credits. They deserve at least another shot or two =(

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

If you count shipped games as being sold, Lost Odyssey could of already sold 1 million games worldwide to customers. 720 000 sales have been recorded for LO already on VGChartz.
