Had all the warning signs, shady developers posing as consumers on the board to praise the game, stolen dialog, etc.

I can only wonder how it got to retail with this much stolen work. There may not be a single piece of originality in the game. Now I want to hear some of the music, because that's probably stolen too.

Because it was a team of 3 people, pretending to be a full-scale development team. Ergo they couldn't spare the manpower to do even that much. Quite frankly, the fact that it was just 3 people claiming to have made a full-scale game should've been a huge tip-off to the publisher that something was amiss...
