Actually yea, there is no story but there is also no level up system.

It's more like a survival game if anything with action game elements.

I'm glad I helped so many "on the fence" people to buy a game in the series.

It's a shame that the Wii version isn't coming out this year, and if Capcom's history is to be believed, will come out in Japan in Feb 09 and August in America. It's too long to wait for the game. :'(

I recently bought Monster Hunter 2 based on 'it sounds like my type of game' and very much looking forward to it. Your post more or less confirms I should look forward to it.

But really that wasn't funny, I truely did mistake Monster Hunter for Monster Rancher and never got into it, and later PSO curbed any demand for it.

I am about to scrounge the internet for larger scans or maybe even some developer news now, I'm saddened that vgc knew about this scan stuff before I knew... means I've been slacking. =/ (Darn N4G)

I'd reccomend MH3 for anyone who likes Diablo games, as it's the cut and dry of Diablo without the mages however. (I was hoping Tri would have mages of some sort.) The game doesn't have combos but they have well animated sequence of moves that vary from weapon to weapon, that you have direct control over.
