totally agree, it's almost pathetic. And the OP will have to excuse me but seeing his posts today after the Xbox JRPG event, it seems almost like there's some kinda rule who forbids any company to invest in whatever it wants. Like some old fashioned kinda thought that one must have a PS to play a certain genre of game which doesn't exist.
MS is investing in the buisness, maybe Sony should do the same.

Second that. Each company is doing what it thinks is in its best interest. That's how a bussiness works. There is nothing wrong with MS or Sony buying exclusives if they think it will help them. They are both there to make money in  the long run and to think they have an invested right to each genera is incorrect. Same goes with Nintendo.

wow.....just go ahead n compare the WORST Selling FF with the BEST SELLING DQ

Oh -- I thought I just did the most recent ones from the main series for the PS2. Doesn't it make sense to compare the most recent ones on the same platform? I literally didn't even bother looking up the sales for all of the other ones.

If Final Fantasy is trending toward less popular, that's something that should be taken into account. It's not my fault the series is struggling for something fresh.

IF they come to ps3 then cool, if not oh well I get mgs4 and ff. I'm not sacrificing my integrity for a few videogames though.

The only emotional factor among this buisness is in kids heads. Companies want to make money and (sane) consumers should buy the best box.
I mean how pathetic is the "statement SE is going to regret partening with MS", why? Because US nuked Japan when they sided along Hitler? lol!

What does gaming have to do with "integrity", and what does integrity have to do with purchasing one product over another?

You've missed Microsoft's whole point.

Making money in this venture is obviously positive and they've been profitable in a few quarters, but most of that is taking a backseat to hurting Sony and establishing themselves in the media center environment. Whether or not Star Ocean 4 sells a lot of consoles is gravy as it's a brutal blow to PS3 fans.

The business is about making money. To shell out all that cash for a "brutal blow" is stupid. Why do you think Sony isn't throwing cash around? Because they are trying to make a profit. After finally attining profitability, M$'s answer is to throw money at games that probably would've been multiplatform anyway. This is why Sony is probably just standing by. SO4 will come to PS3 no matter who tells you otherwise except M$ has gone as far as to spend more money than the profits attinable by the game's sales. I'm starting to theink this console war is about Bill Gates desire to win somebody rather than a business. With Sega'a funds, M$ would've been out of the industry before now.

Your missing the whole point. Microsoft feels by defeating the playstation in japan that it will hurt the PS brand everywhere. Trends begin there in gaming. Second, the whole idea of the xbox is to keep sony from having a multimedia center in the living room that competes heavily with microsoft. IF the PS brand went like sony wanted with no compitition from MS then MS would loose alot of its other products as well. Remember this is just not gaming this is the much more to these companies.

So, microsoft killing sony in japan is the goal, making money on the way to doing this is just a bonus. By defeating sony's multimedia hub MS believes it will have more profibility long term. This is a spend money to make money later scenario.

Attacking the PS brand will not cahnge Japanese attitude towards the Xbox. I'm even beginning to doubt that DQIX can save the 360 in Japan. Japanese will probably boycott the game like the Ubisoft whiners. The thing is PS4 has a chance to recuperate in Japan and PSP and PSP2 will shine but Xbox will never penetrate the market. The brand started off on the wrong foot by wondering why the Japanese won't play Halo.

The point is not to increase the 360 share (though that would be a bonus) in japan but to decrease the Sony one. By taking the popular japenese centric series that is what the 360 is doing. Every one that is not appearing on the PS3 is hurting sony. If Nintendo crushes Sony, it is still a win for microsof because it seriously hurts Sony's chances of having a multimedia box take over the living room. The best scenario for MS would be for  the 360 to have a sizable share and crush Sony but that is not the only way that Microsoft "wins".

 "integrity", wow! integrety one

choses in the voting booth, when chosing the best candidate for runing a country, not using a consumer product in a capitalist world where all the companies seek profit by delivering the best product they can.

I never understood the "endemic issue" against Microsoft (or Sony), it's a urban myth that raised just because they invented th home Operating System. It's even harder to understand when MS actually improved the world (making a fortune along the way, but they did bring computers to every house).

Only the DS and Wii are the money makers in Japan.
SE is stupid if they think destroying JRPG is good for them.
It's not, but they won't realize it before it's too late. These little games will have bad outcomes.
It's funny that western people say they have to go multiplatform to make money, and that's what they do. But strangely enough, the JRPG genre is the one going exclusive on the worst console to do that for japanese games. To me, the only explication, the only incentive I can see is money hats given by MS.
Except that the purpose of a business is to acquire and keep customers (money is incidental), and I doubt that will work well.

SO fans must be pissed off.

@THeBigFatJ

no.....as the FIRST FF on a NEW CONSOLe is always the most popular one due to the WOW factor....

comparing FF10 n DQ 8 would be fair.....or FF7 n DQ 8
