Forums - General - Is there a god?

Well I wasn't completing the argument of fagarcia or anything. I was merely pointing out the way god is. (or at least the way I thought it was) nevertheless, I see I shouldn't have said that you twisted the truth, you were talking about the bible and I thought it was about religion. It is hard to read the whole 13 pages you know. And who would think that a book that is written by a human (or many humans for that matter) can be the gods true words.
Oh, I did oversimplify. I didn't want to go throw the whole space environment course. Plasma is a really just ionized gas you know, some think that it is a distinct state of matter, but that is just for its properties. Any way http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_giant check this out. I don't know how you understand this, but "Red giants are stars with radii hundreds of times larger than that of the Sun which have exhausted the supply of hydrogen in their cores and switched to fusing hydrogen in a shell outside the core Since the inert helium core has no source of energy of its own, it contracts and heats up, and its gravity compresses the hydrogen in the layer immediately above it, thus causing it to fuse faster." Also "The total amount of mass/energy in a closed system (as seen by a single observer) remains constant because energy cannot be created or destroyed and, in all of its forms, trapped energy exhibits mass. In relativity, mass and energy are two forms of the same thing, and neither one appears without the other." I don't know what you mean regarding the whole mass/matter thing, but I think you have it confused with einsteins law E=mc2, which is valid in special relativity. It has no use in a system (like the sun) that does not move.
Anyway, I think if you really think that you are right, you should try to talk with more logic and try less to look down on people. I doubt it anyone has any answers, we are just trying to find a close estimate.
sorry to bother you.

Anyway, the only reason I simplified, was that I thought it was irrelevent to the discussion here. I thought this was a God realated thread, not a thread about the sun. I just thought it was funny to beleive that 6000 years ago the sun was bigger than it is now. And that a bigger sun means that it is warmer. I thought one sentence was enough. It seems you didn't get my point the first time.

fagarcia75, apparently. I didn't believe that the Bible should be interpreted literally even before I went agnostic, but that's the assertion he makes that I was arguing against.

And I do regret coming down so hard on you on the astronomical matter, but it seemed to me that you were oversimplifying to the point of silliness. And I was not directly referring to E=mc^2 but rather to the fact that fusion, which powers the Sun, in fact converts amounts of hydrogen mass into lesser amounts of helium mass plus energy, thereby slowly decreasing the total amount of mass in the Sun, and less slowly decreasing the amount of hydrogen and increasing the amount of helium. The energy produced is then spewed out into the universe. I do not see how this fits the definition of "closed system".

The relevant portion of the post you made originally is as follows:

And that whole sun is shrinking thing was funny. I though gases take all the space that they can. I didn't know that the shrinking had anything to do with material. The way I remember it, it had something to do with the temperature.

This did not seem like a comment likely to be made by a person who actually knew how stars work, but rather seemed to me to refer to foggily recalled science lessons about how gases spread to fill a vacuum and how hot gases expand; however, I can see that my initial impression of sheer ignorance was quite wrong.  I see now that you know quite a bit more than I first thought you did.

You do that Rubang B :P

meh, I almost had interest in debating this but I forgot how this works. Person A Ignore %99 of what person B says, attack some largely irrelevant nuance of their post, then add some other stuff that wasn't even being discussed, then person C comes in and makes vague assertions ignore 90% of what persons A and B were discussing.

God has already proved his existence to mankind....and none will be without excuse. (Romans 1:20) What a waste of your life trying to disprove God. When people go around saying there is no God...sometimes I just laugh. How stupid can mankind be. Especially with all of the prophecies of the Bible being fufilled.

God is a space-filler until science solves everything.

I concur

Millions of people literally beleive that a burning bush spoke to a man in the desert, or that one old man built a giant boat that held all the animals of the world.

What a waste, believing in a bunch of fairy tales

@ Cadence, yes. Just look a thunder gods, sky gods, ect for examples.
