Does anyone here know how to hack a DS?
What do I need to buy? etc.

To be clear, I'm not doing this to pirate DS games.

I tried googling but I wasn't very succesful.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. ^_^

define "hack" and what you hope to achieve by "hacking" a DS, then it might be easier to help you.

Um you mean so you could run homebrew?
YOu need a slot 1 flash cart (r4ds,G6ds,M3ds,etc) http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2728

Most homebrew requires extra flash memory so Ez Flash 3 in 1 is good. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11178

The best thing is that it does nothing to your ds that voids the warranty, and acts like a regular ds cartridge.

Oh btw you must put the firmware from the cd to your microsd and then put the micro sd in the cart and then the cart into your ds.

 YOu need to buy the first two, the third one is optional , but I recommend it for homebrew. Read the guide that I linked if you have any questions on installation and such. It is very easy to walkthrough.

Does the kind of DS I have matter?
Similar to how a PSP firmware matters?

 No you just use a cart. It's alot easier to do that the psp is.
