Forums - Gaming Discussion - How much use each console gets.

Probably

360 - 50%

GC - 30%

PS2 - 5%

DS - 15%

My other consoles: N64, Dreamcast, Snes and Mega Drive arent used at the moment.

Around the Network

DS: 50%
Wii: 40%
PC: 7%
PS3: 3%

Apparently there was an error and they accidentally switched the 360 and PS3 for the 27+. The 360 was supposed to be highest.

You are the third person to point this out.  The basic trend is this:

Xbox 360: most (by a lot)

Wii: second

PS3: last (by a lot)

Correction: PS3 Getting Least Use from All Ages

Nielsen has amended the console use numbers it released yesterday.
by Daemon Hatfield

US, June 5, 2008 - Yesterday the research firm Nielsen released data collected from April 2007 to February 2008 that showed younger gamers spending more time playing the Xbox 360 and older players favoring the PlayStation 3. Nielsen's data showed that gamers aged 10 to 26 spent 63 percent of their time playing the 360 and 12 percent on the PS3. For gamers 27 and older, they appeared to spend almost 52 percent of their time playing the PS3 and only 20 percent playing the 360. Nielsen contacted IGN today to tell us the numbers for the older demographic should have been switched, meaning the 360 is getting the most use across all ages.

A Nielsen representative we spoke with was unsure why the incorrect data was distributed. After the original story went up yesterday our comments system erupted with spirited arguments over which system is superior. This amendment to the data is sure to fuel even more discussion.

The Wii data remains unchanged: in all age groups, it is a distant second in the amount of use it enjoys.

I still must take exception to your use of the word distant. Certainly lower, and stistically significantly lower. Not a surprise, certainly I have other priorities and time limitations but because I play 53 minutes twice a day and you play 73 does not make us a different species. Most non-gamers would look at those numbers and think that we were both equally crazy.

During my 53 minutes I am not casual, I play hard and I expect the quality to be there.

Interesting find here: Older games over 27 years play PS3 the most. Younger gamers under 27 years play the XBox 360 the most.

According to that data, PS3 has more minutes per session, more sessions per day, and more days per month than the Wii. How can the PS3 have high numbers in all sections but be beaten by Wii ?? It means that Wii is used less than the PS3, but the fact there are more Wii owners skews the percentage for total minutes.

BTW guys this info isn't correct at all. It doesn't scale according to sales. Crunch the numbers.
