PS2 - 12 games

Gears 2 should pass 5 million but hitting 5 million is not an easy achievement. Even more interesting is that 2 franchises alone Halo (3) and GTA (4) account for over half of the over 5 million copies sold games from the latest 2 Sony and M$ consoles. Sure there is more analysis worth doing on this (Nintendo Consoles, 1st vs 3rd party) but my lunch break does not allow for it!

Why did you leave Wii out?
It has 6 right now with 3 more on the way in just a few weeks.

The Wii is doing great but I still just cant count Wii Sports as proper sales, its bundled in the biggest regions?! Also Wii Play is purchased as a second controller with a "game" for £5 extra (in the UK at least).

Still even excluding those 2 its sold the same number of 5m + sellers as the 360 in a fraction of the time, very impressive.

If you count Mario & Sonic on Wii & DS as one game then I think it has a very good chance.

- Any Grand Theft Auto Sequel for obvious reasons
- Guitar Hero 4 because its popular, and will be for all 3 consoles

I don't think many others, 10 mil is tough

 

Edit: GH4 i should've said all 4 consoles because of PS2


I never thought he was, which is why I said GH4.  Just saying it might need a PS2 release to get it to 10 million.

 Yes it is.  Lots of people on this forum forget it has also released on the PC and sold well.

I believe FF13 has a chance due to the fact that this gen there have been way fewer RPG released on the PS3 so it should do better than the previous FF in the western world ( but worse in Japan).
Otherwise the usual suspects :
- GTA4 and any sequel
- COD4
- GH4

Maybe AC2...( but I am doubtfull).



PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

 I'll second that opinion.

Back on topic, I'd like to say Spore will. Its creator is the only man who made a game with over 100 million in sales, so he definitely knows how to make games that sell. But it might end up being too...overwhelming?... to pass the ten million mark. Still, I'll definitely be there on day one.
