Forums - Sales Discussion - Can MGS4 reach 7-10 mln. by the end of 2008 thnx to BUNDLE?

What do you think? =) If no, then how much? =)

By the end of June(in 3 weeks) MGS4 will reach probably:
500k in Japan.
1,25 mln. in USA.
1,25 mln. in Europe.
Atleast 3 mln. (Since ~14-14,5 mln. PS3 sold will be)

Just for the records in 3 weeks:
GTA4 PS3 version - 3,37 mln. (no Japan release and was bundled only in some parts of Europe)
GTA4 x360 version - 4,82 mln. (x360 USA+Europe > then PS3 by 6,7 mln.)
Wii Kart - 4,07 mln. (though had a different time of release)

And MGS4 will be selling for next 6 months. =)

Not to mention, that MGS2/MGS3 were selling, when PS2 was hacked, while PS3 is still not. So there can be much more MGS fans all over the world. =]

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.


Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

Not to mention, that MGS4 can be just like any bundled game, bought by NOT mgs fan. =)

By the way, Motorstorm and Resistance after 1 year, still making around 100-120k per month. MGS4 is a new game, with bundle it could easy make over 100k per week for a long time i believe.. =)

But who is going to say that all Metalgearboys will buy a PS3? Maybe they are tired of the series and don't feel like playing MGS4.

Remember, not all Marioboys who played Super Mario 64 have bought a GC to play Super Mario Sunshine. So there's even a realistic kimpossibility that MGS4 sells less than 5m copies lifetime.


 I think Crazzyman is trying to say that their will be PS3 bundles with MGS4 included that you can buy like you had with Resistance and Motorstorm...Their were a lot who didn't wanted Motorstorm or resistance but they got it included so;..

Here we go.

But no. Bundles don't push sales of a game that high, unless every single console is bundled with the game. I doubt the 80gig will be bundled with MGS4 all year, and there's always the 40gig anyway.

I'm thinking the game will do on par with the first three, but won't push past that because the game is too involved in the storyline to gain many outsiders.
