If it takes off I'll probably stop gaming. I buy my games second hand or heavily discounted. The WiiWare games are too expensive to appeal to me. If everything is distributed digitally there will be no second hand games and retailers wouldn't have left-over stock that needs heavily discounting to get rid of. Everything would be sold at full price or a small discount and there's no way I'd pay £40 for a game.

Agreed though, it is a market I didn't consider. It pretty much WOULD end resale value of a game. A question for you - how much on average do you pay for your used games?

£3 on average. The most I've ever paid was £20 for a brand new game and I don't plan on doing that again.

So just a thought, but since you mostly buy second hand games, you're not really supporting the industry anyway. So, if it turns a cold shoulder on you and you stop buying games, it wouldn't recognize a difference, no?

But I buy everything online, and I really don't want to have to download all those games, or have to go into a game store to authorise my purchase. I am very happy with my physical media

Personally, I'm waiting for punch cards to make a strong comeback.

LOL!  This brings a few notable quotes to mind:

"Too many holes for Hollerith."

"Buried face-down, nine-edge first."

Digital distribution is coming... the questions are "when?" and "how much DRM?"

Fair enough, but the industry isn't. Hell even Kojima said Blu Ray crippled MGS4 development, he needed more space. Of course, he could've chopped out some time in those 90 minute long cutscenes, but I digress.
