Hmmm, PS3?! SQ-E watched the Japanese market well! DQ is front-loaded and bigger in Japan then America or Europe (DQ8 is the only DQ game to have ever been released in Europe).
PS3 sales below 10k a week will have SQ-E go 'Naaahhh' on a PS3 version for DQ10... See what happened to Monster Hunter 3 if you don't get what I'm saying...

I always thought the Dragon Quest franchise sells better than the Final Fantasy franchise...Am I wrong?
DQ will never see the light of day on PS3....spin-off or no spin-off

I think FF7 & FF8 & FF10 have outsold many of the DQ main series games

DQ and FF are essentially tied in Japan... The total sales (or first week for that matter) can fluctuate because of: Moment of launch (I mean, how long has the system it's being released on already been out). How much sales does that system have?! What's it's userbase's interests?!... Etc...
I believe the top-10 best launchweeks in Japan has DQ and FF somewhat scattered across eachother, the one selling even better then the other iteration in the series.

FFTactics: The Lion War - 300k
Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth - 160k
Top 3 DS S-E games in Japan:
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker - 1.49 million
Dragon Quest IV - 1.25 million
Final Fantasy III - 1.07 million
I think that says enough.

Zero chance. PSPs are selling more. But software attach rate in japan is abysmal for the PSP. Besides which... the DS has like double the install base.
PSP is only outselling DS because DS has already hit about max market saturation. PSP won't reach DS. DS is still the healthier console.
