Forums - Microsoft - Cross platform LIVE

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Colonies Edition hits the shelves this week in the US and next week in the UK and I noticed on the website that it is cross platform(PC/360) multiplayer. As far as I know that is a whole 3 titles that offer this now. Will it ever take off and become the norm? If ms offer free cross platform play to PC owners will that help?

EDIT: Is there a list anywhere of titles that do/will offer cross platform play?

If you have XB Live gold subscription u can use that for the Windows games as well. So in order for cross-platform to be free, XBL would have to be free as well--MSFT will not do that.

MS know if you're on an Xbox or a PC. Surely it wouldn't be that hard?

On PC you need to have an Xbox live gold account to go cross-platform like that, just like with the 360.

It kinda already is the norm for games for windows which are also on the 360.

Unfortunately we all think its not that hard but programmers are saying its that hard.

Anyway the list is very short: Shadowrun, UNO, Halo 2 and now Lost Planet Colonies. Its a laughable list really and clearly shows this is not one of MS' priorities.

that would be cool if it became the norm

Proud Owner of  a Wii and Xbox 360 and a PS3(When I get the money)

It would not be cool, PC gamers have to pay money for something every other single PC game gets for free: online multiplayer. and also they get a better control set-up, mouse and keyboard.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Obligatory dick measuring Gaming Laptop Specs: Sager NP8270-GTX: 17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED Matte LC, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3, 750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

That's what I'm getting at. Make it free for PC gamers to play cross platform games. That way it will encourage devs and games to take advantage of the system.

Keyboard and mouse isn't the best control scheme for all game types.

Yea, it would be cool if we could get these things, but not at a price seeing as many of the same features are available without charge.

Not to mention that I hear that Silver Windows Live users get shafted a bit when it comes to available features.

Thats why my mate absolutely kicks the crap out of PC Halo 2 players with his Xbox controller. He went 3 hours against a PC clan with his xbox clan and died twice in those 3 hours. They trounced the PC clan.
