I hope consoles go back to cartridges some day.

That photo's remind me of the good old times...

Why are old games so much better than new ones?

MK7!! 3DS friend code: 0688 - 5579 - 0994

Also playing DotA2 beta!

Cool, thanks for sharing the photos. I love seeing other people's setups, especially ones with classic consoles.

@totalwar23: Maybe highwaystar101 is a real gamer and doesn't mess with emulators. :) And about the carts, just about any NES cart that is taken care of(like a cd/dvd) should still be working today, with the exception of the batteries. It's usually the consoles themselves that wear out, not the carts.

Yeah, because of all the things that need to be "real", it's going to be games. /sarcasm.

A little more into the future and the only way these old games are going to survive among the population is through emulators. I'm also surprise his NES is still working.

@ Totalwar23 - What the hell is your problem?

Here's a little about me:

Like most Nes owners my Nes still works.
I like playing old consoles.
I don't like emulators, you wouldn't believe how different an emulator is to the authentic article.
I appreciate good games from any company from any time.

I pity you if you would rather play an emulator than dish out £20 on a nes and £1 for each classic game. I may not be one of the most serious gamers on this site, but I can see I am a hell of a lot more serious than you will ever be. You sound like a 10 year old - All of your arguements are merely grasping at straws.

I'm surprise that your NES is still working after all these years, not that your NES isn't working. Aging products at some point stop functioning. Fact of life.

Okay. You answered that question already. Don't really care.

Fine. Did I ever condemn you for not using emulators? In fact, I've stopped addressing to you after my first post, and was talking to other people. Emulators will have to be used to preserve these games.

What the hell does appreciating good games from any company have to do with this? When was this ever brought up?

I don't play old games anymore so I don't have those emulators. And guess what? I try not to be a serious gamer because why in the fuck would you want to be serious at playing games? However, I guess you are way too serious if you get tick off at perceived imaginary attacks, especially since I never made any arguments, except perhaps for the need of emulators.

@totalwar: You're the one that came in here with a dismissive attitude about something he obviously enjoys. So don't act surprised and pretend he's being a dick. If you aren't serious about games(I could tell from your first post), why insult something that many serious gamers enjoy?

And emulators(like you are talking about) are not the only way to preserve classic games. I'm pretty sure Nintendo's Virtual Console doesn't exist just because people have been stealing games online for years. There are also plenty of classic games available on (legal)compilation discs at very cheap prices. Many of us here don't encourage or engage in stealing, even if it is done through a computer.

The whole "why the **** would you want to be serious at playing games" is just childish semantics. This may blow your mind, but people have been "serious" about leisure activities for thousands of years.

Makes me happy to see all those great Nintendo consoles sitting side by side. All the great memorys I have playing those wonderful video game machines comes rushing back.

Let recap this huh?

My first post was a question, well 2, but not an insult. He answered it. I've moved on. In my subsequence posts, I wasn't even talking to him; one of the posts was directed at you, yet he decided to throw a temper tantrum.

Secondly, Nintendo's VC is based on emulation. You think they actually put in old N64 hardware in the Wii or something? Not to mention it only a small percentage of the old games. Atari actually has offered their old games on emulation, too. As years go by, you think companies will offered these classic compilations? Not mention that when the Wii is dead, so will Virtual Console. Think about that.

"Many of us here don't encourage or engage in stealing, even if it is done through a computer." That doesn't even making any sense. "Even if it is done through a computer."? Since when are computers an excused to stealing? And just because people use emulators, that doesn't mean they are stealing.

Thirdly, people have been avidly engaged in hobbies for centuries but what they don't do is dictate is what consitutes as the real way to enjoy the hobby. You act like there's some stinking code that gamers have to take before being "real", and "serious". Do you play games for money or something? If not, quit acting like your going through the path of "pure gaming" or something. Gaming is R&R to some people, and they will do it however they like. Deal with it. I was never dismissive of what he did. Guess what, I never cared.
