How about you just stick to facts and keep personal opinions of me out of your posts. I think many things of many people but any time you have an argument with me its coming down to..."oh I know you...you are a wii hater". Its getting kinda boring if you are going to use that as a cop out every time...

@Bodhesatva

I unerstand that completely. Nintendo has lots of franchises that people crave sequels for...plus if mario kart was called "Generic man Kart" it would sell 200,000 copies, so its good they use Mario.

My only probelm is when guys like Zenfoldor start claiming Nintendo is at the edge of software development with its titles and their diversity...while all of them have the same sound effects, same or similar game engines, no voice actors, no real story development or a sense of timeline. They just keep churning them out over and over...and now supposedly they are the market leader in the videogame industry? Reading some early posts on this topic, apparently Sony and Microsoft have to copy nintendo next gen to stay relevant...

And if Nintendo is scoring higher than everyone else consistently and selling millions of copies while simultaneously breaking molds and barriers and inspiring many developers in the process, then being the edge of software development clearly has more to it than how much voice acting you can squeeze onto a single disc. All of your arguments are detours. You make a statement that is blatantly false andwhen confronted you take the controversial path, "Oh, Mario Kart isn't a racing game. It's a genre its's completely not instead!" "Nintendo has no diversity because Mario is in more than one game!!" It's like stealth trolling only I think you are deluded enough to actually believe that Mario Kart isn't a racing game.

it all depends on what features the consoles offer.

Please...you're like 8 hours late to say anything here that hasn't been said.

Arguing that nintendo is on the cutting edge of game making is like saying Home Alone was cutting edge movie making.

Disolute: I don't think you entirely got my point, although I must stress that I don't actually think Nintendo is significantly more diverse than, say, Sony. They are both diverse, but they are diverse in different ways.

Consider these two examples. Which two pairs are more diverse: Mario Golf and Mario Galaxy or Castlevania: SotN and Super Metroid?

The latter two examples have the exact same characters, virtually no storyline, but are entirely different to play. The latter two have very different characters and storylines, but the gameplay is virtually identical.

In essence, what Nintendo lacks in diversity of characters they make up for in diversity of gameplay. Some other studios have more characters but less gameplay diversity, and so forth.

LOL...you had to use my fave game as example eh?

I agree that super metroid and SotN have more in common than those 2 titles gameplay wise...but on a technical level, they do not have anything in common. Different sound FX, kickass music for both...sprites...backgrounds all different.

However don't you feel that most nintendo games lately have the exact same (family friendly) vibe? Same production values? Same art direction? Even the most die hard nintendo fan must be getting tired of mario yelling "YAH!" over and over. Even gameplay wise... its getting stagnant to me... Oh look its bowser again...and hes shooting things at me...wow, what would happen if i shoot him back with his projectile...YAY!

Remember when nintendo would publish a game like killer instinct, mario bros 2 (yoshi island) and
Ken Griffey Jr. Winning run baseball all 3 months apart? All different productions, different style of games...and top of their class... You don't get that anymore from them. Like I think WiiFit is the coolest thing nintendo is done since Wiisports...

From their AAA games for the wii thus far, I think MP3 sticks out like a sore thumb as far as being different in style, themes and production. Retro Studios is indeed a talented developer in my opinion and I hope nintendo takes care of them well.

Original post fails

We will hear nothing about new consoles from the big 3 this E3

Please, people, trying to argue with Disolitude is arguing against a wall.
When such level of blind fanboyism is achieved there's no turning back. Good for him, he hates Nintendo, lets not get mad over a no one who hates it, and enjoy what Nintendo gives us. Anyways is just him hating on Nintendo not us hating on anything.

Learn to live with it.

LOL. When did I say I hate nintendo? You guys think if a person says nintendo is not the market leader he/she hates them? Some Nintendo fans on this board remind me of christians...

Anywho, I don't hate nintendo, as its a company. When someone starts a thread about how nintendo is the market leader and how its up to them to lose it next generation, you better have arguments to back that up. Rather than call everyone who doesn't think so "fanboy". REason why it seems I am arguing against the board is because I am beeing attacked with 30 different points...

Nintendo will pull in billions of dollars with your defending or without...they are a big company and don't need you to whack everyone who questions their dominance.

In any case, I will pull back here as this obviously was meant to be a thread where nintendo fans shake hands and congradulate their dominance and laugh at Sony and Microsoft for trying to offer so much more than nintendo and accomplishing so little.

Arguing that Nintendo isn't the cutting edge of game making is like arguing that Wii Fit is destroying the industry - you've got like 3 more steps grief to cope with. Good luck.
