Yeah because once I got the Wii. The update was already there I saw Photo Channel update 1.1 on the Wii opening.

So like I said the Mii, Forecast and News Channels took my 4 blocks but I can't see that they actually did.

With nothing added at all, my Wii would have 2176 blocks, yours would have 2172.

ALL Wiis have Mii, News and weather channels.

The only difference between my and your Wii is that yours has the 1.1 version of photo channel, which takes more space than the old version.

My Wii had to add the update to the 2176 blocks I have, meaning only 2173 were free blocks

(I imagine the 1 block discrepancy is some other update Ninty have added, but best to ignore that)

It is the extra files of the ohoto channel that take those blocks... Your Wii cannot access them, so you have fewer "free" blocks, my Wii has them added to the accessible memory.

Oh i get it now. So its like this

1) Mii, News and Weather Channels are standard and take blocks but we cannot access them or see them for that matter

2) I have newer version of the Wii because 1.1 Photo was already pre-installed on my Wii so I cannot delete that update or see the update anywhere.

Where as you have a older version of the Wii, as you had to download the update and install it yourself and you can see that on your Wii Memory Usage.

I have estimated that one block is 150k. My Life as a king is 43 Mb and takes up 287 Blocks. 43,000,000 / 287 = 149825. 43 Mb is rounded down so 150k sound about right to me.

Since we are speaking of space ... now that I've downloaded a WiiWare title I am under 400 blocks.

Thus, I am wondering, do the Mario Kart channel and the Wii Fit channel do anything that I really need to do (or cannot do do with just the game in the system)?

@mike. I cannot speak for the Wii Fit channel but everything from the Mario Kart channel can be accessed by running the game, the only advantage the MK channel has is that you can access time trial/competition rankings, download ghosts and check your friend roster without running the game.
I would imagine the Wii Fit channel is similar in that it is basically used as your daily fitness planner, so you can see what your fitness schedule for the day is and perhaps check weight/BMI etc with the board.

So I don't think either are needed.

thanks very much, you own quite a few games.... Your Nintendo channel only has 1 value for it though, perhaps it was taken off when you tried to edit the spacing and such.

No, I just haven't messed with it yet. Sad, right? Maybe I'll do it this evening and let you know what it pops up as. Right now I'm pretty sure it has no save file.

I do own an alarming number of games but a lot of the Wii games are also rentals.  (Soulcalibur Legends was thankfully one of these -- on the wrong side of mediocre when there are so many good games to play instead.)  I haven't deleted anything yet and with my 2GB SD card waiting in the wings I don't intend to. 

Ah so it only creates a save file the first time you use it. Bare in mind it will take 120+ blocks to save if you haven't got much space left.

I wonder why it seems to be my channels taking up the most space, my internet takes up 21 more blocks, my Sonic 1 and 3 take up more, as does my F-Zero.

The only exception is RE4:Wii, which for some reason take up 11 blocks for you final_fan, but only 4 for me.
