Forums - Nintendo - So when will be the time when Wii holds the american market like DS did?

Will it be soon after the Wii Fit phenomenon, after E3 or wait till the christmas season?

Stockpiling.Thats the word,if Ninty wants to they can beat the competition even without stockpiling, and even make it 200,000 weekly range like the DS did in others. Lets admit it, Ninty always sold out of the Wiis even they barely make 100,000 sales weekly last month. What Im asking is when is the time that Ninty can beat the competittion without stockpiling? They always hold their stocks to reserve it for the big games or ther big week even they can beat the competittion without it.

It already holds the amerian market. Or how do you mean?

1. What exactly do you mean by like the DS

2. You said DS did, when it still has the lead

3. Why does it really matter

Well HD consoles are still competing with the Wii with 50,000 sales weekly, as for now, and Wii is still struggling in 100,000 sales mark so when is the time that Wii really outsells the competition as same as DS did with over 100,000 weekly sales.

Remember that the Wii last april at least in vgchartz are in 50,000 to 80,000 sales range till in the last week with 400,000 sales.

I think that Wii sales tend to be around the amount of Wii's shipped to America. So, if Nintendo does increase production rates by 33% like I read somewhere they were, and actually ship more Wii's to America, it may.

@Yushire: I'm starting to doubt if you are being serious or not. How can you say Wii sales are in the 50,000-80,000 range and strugling to get 100,000, when you saw a week of 400k Wii's sold.

Lately you have been criticizing Wii badly or either praising it abnormally, smells like a joke account.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

At this point, the Wii has no where to go but up. The 360 has no where to go but down, considering the fact it was the only console to start off with 100% marketshare. (due to the fact that it was the only nex-gen console for a year.)

The 360 will always hold a strong favorability in a lot of Us gamers. But, the Wii will be the favorable console to more people than the 360. (based on the 1st party, casual games, and upcoming promising 3rd party games.

Yushire. what the eff? You just said he Wii struggles in the 100k range when it broke 300k when this gen's biggest release, or at least until Gta5, just released? That doesn't make any sense. Also, the Wii has been unexpectedly selling the combined total of the Ps360's sales so far this year.

To answer your initial question, i expect WiiFit to kick things off for the hold on the Us market.

Poor choice of words my friend.

Anyway, I think the Wii will have DS-esque market holding power when it has ben out as long (like 3 1/2 years). By then, if the big hitters of the PS360 don't affect HW sales like GTA4, the Wii could get a lot more market. But, I doubt that would happen, not wih PS3's 2009.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

That's just bad wording. If the Wii is struggling, I'd hate to see what the other consoles are doing. The only thing it's struggling with, is meeting demand. I'm pretty certain that it's been outselling the ps3 and 360 combined by an over 80,000 a week average, since the beginning of this year and gap is getting bigger. The 360 will start slowing down and Wii has the largest room for growth.

I'm not completely certain what you meant, but in a month or so it should have passed the 360 and a year or so it should have over 1/2 the NA market. It's clearly the most profitable a home console has been at this point in it's life. I don't know about, but to me that sounds like holding the American market.
