I am not saying this because of the quality of the games, I believe that GOW has many more hardcore fanbase in its site, and of course the bigger install base of XBOX360...

Resistance 2 will sell better. But this will be because it will have better legs.

The origional Resistance did not sell masses in its opening week but has had consistant sales. i think Resistance 2 will have a big opening week and have consistant sales also.

So what are you all predicting for GeOW2 opening week and lifetime sales then

I hate to say Gears 2 will sell more, because of the US xbox install base

Uh... Resistance had consistant sales because it was bundled.  Well that and it was a launch game... and was the only game worth playing on PS3 for a pretty long time.

 Uh... Resistance had consistant sales because it was bundled.


 It was bundled for three months in the UK. At most that can account for 150,000 units in sales. I'm seriously sick of hearing that.

Resistance 2 single gameplay will be shown only on June 13th. =)
Some sources says, that game will look better then teaser(well Ratchet look like pixar movie..).
For now,
~3 mln. Resistance
vs
~5 mln. GeoW

But, Resistance make around 120-130k monthly while geow around 40-50k.
So, by the end of year(7 months), if sales rate won`t change:
~4 mln. Resistance
vs
~5,5 mln. GeoW

Both games are hyped, though Geow a little more. :)
Resistance 2 will have 60 players online, 2 story lines(1 for co-op), and probably will look amazing.
GeoW 2 will be Bigger Better Longer. =)
I think Both games will do ok and probably similar in terms of sales and scores. =]

Gears 2 will sell better. Don't downplay the multiplayer draw on Gears either. If they make some more improvements over the original multiplayer, it should do just as well or better in that regard. Resistance will sell well also, but the 360 has a larger installed base in the largest market for FPS games.

As to which game will be better. They both look like they will shape up to be decent games. Resistance 1 was not all it was made out to be. It was a decent shooter but it was the best shooter out on the PS3 so it got a lot of press. Personally, it felt like Call of Duty 2 with the Germans swapped out with gun toting monsters. I've played a large number of FPS games and Resistance ranks in the middle of the pack. The first Gears was a well put together game that offered some new gameplay elements. Overall, Gears was a much better game than Resistance. That doesn't make Resistance bad, it just wasn't anything special or new. If the single player part of Resistance 2 is anything like the first game, then I expect the same. It will be decent but nothing special.

As far as multiplayer goes, it looks like Resistance 2 might have something interesting. I'd like to see the coop and regular multiplayer in action.
