So the top 5 Publishers are quite close. And then they drop down quite badly after that.

Any way it doesn't say for what period of time this is for but I'm assuming that it would be only since this current gen consoles have been around.  So any surprises there or is it how you expected it to be?

I didn't think Nintendo would be top as most reviewers judge them more harshly than most other publishers. Or is it just me thinking this.

Is it any surprise how close it is. 2% is not much between the top 5.

Highest rating game - 97 - Nintendo
Highest Rating for the company's worst game - 53 - Sony and THQ
Highest Average - 76 - Nintendo

Lowest rating game - 34- Sega
Lowest rating for the companies best game - 81 - THQ
Lowest Average - 63 - Midway Games

So from this we can infer
Nintendo makes awesome games
Sony can be relied upon to produce acceptable games all the time

most interesting is that EA is in the top 5, actually averaging a higher average review score than Sony. Their lowest score is actually higher than 3 of the other top 5 publishers.

That sure should be raising a few eyebrows...

Not really... I mean they make a crapload of sports games... and Sports games almost never rate below an 80 for whatever reason.  That more then balances out any bad games they put out.

I tried running the numbers on Capcom, but unfortunately I don't know enough about how expensive most of their games were to determine if I was including the right ones. They seemed to hold up pretty well though; anyone with more knowledge about their games wanna calculate their average?

If you go to gamerankings.com you can browse all the metacritic data by company. it tells you the average metacritic score for the developer and how many games they have made. (lifetime)
