Forums - Gaming Discussion - solid snake vs big boss?

Who do you think is the better character overall(consider big boss in his prime)in terms of stuff like character development, overall sweetness etc.

Big Boss.
He has much more charisma than Solid.
He's also much cooler, much more humorous and he has a very good story. He is also a grey character. I never really did like solid though, probably because I played MGS3 first.
He is also pretty deep.

While Solid Snake is a badass, I'm going to wait until after I play MGS4 before I make a judgment on that.

Right now, I'm leaning towards Big Boss a little bit because of how he interacted in radio transmissions in MGS3 (many were pretty funny). Also, the CQC and his mission to take out The Boss was good. Oh, and I can't forget how much he gets his ass kicked yet still goes on.

Not like Solid Snake is worse. There has been a bond with Otacon and the things you could do in the Tanker part of MGS2 were pretty funny. Snake is pretty bad ass in that he got to take down the ultimate soldier twice and he learns CQC for his final mission against Liquid Ocelot.

I don't know man, it's a tough decision.

Solid Snake is the more noble character, from what we know now, but not all of Big Boss' story has been revealed, so I'll wait to reserve judgment.

Snake is more badass. He wins because he has a better rapport with the ladies. Big Boss is a hardass, but he acts pretty damn awkwardly around Eva. At least she seems to get off on it.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Big Boss, for pure character development.

We see Big Boss go from a CIA operative, just listening to what he's told, to the leader of one of the biggest mercenary insurrections in the world.
Obviously a lot happened inbetween (Some of which we have yet to see), but it's a pretty dramatic change, and we see him constantly second-guess authority, and to an extent himself, from the events of MGS3 onwards.

Although I may have to reserve judgment until after MGS4, as Solid certainly has been through a lot, and is easily one of the more developed characters in gaming as well.
