Forums - Gaming Discussion - Jack Thompson Guilty on 27 Charges of Misconduct (charged)

"Judge Dava Tunis has recommended that Jack Thompson be found guilty on 27 out of 31 charges of misconduct during his recent Florida Bar trial, says GamePolitics. Below is part of Judge Tunis' report.
After considering the arguments presented by the Florida Bar and the Respondent (Thompson), observing the Respondent's demeanor during the nine-day trial proceedings, and carefully reviewing the record consisting of four volumes of exhibits totaling 1700 pages and approximately 2400 pages of transcribed testimony, the Court finds that the facts, circumstances and evidence presented regarding the Respondent's conduct, supports a finding of guilt as to certain Florida Bar rules..
While he has not been officially declared guilty, the report will be prepared and sent in to the Florida Supreme Court for a final ruling. Judge Tunis has recommended Jack Thompson be found guilty on 21 counts relating to the case Strickland vs Sony. Strickland vs. Sony involved the deaths of two police officers and a police dispatcher that were murdered by Devin Moore, a GTA player. Judge Tunis also recommended that he be found guilty on an additional four counts stemming from his accusations against Bully, and two come from non-video game related matters.

Below are a few of the charges among that 27 that Judge Tunis has recommended a guilty verdict.
  • Knowingly making a false statement of material fact or law to a tribunal
  • Knowingly disobeying an obligation under the rules of a tribunal
  • Communicating the merits of the case with a judge before whom the proceeding is pending
  • Using means that have no purpose other than to embarrass, delay or burden a third person
  • Engaging in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation
  • Engaging in conduct in connection with the practice of law that is prejudicial to the administration of justice, including to knowingly or through callous indifference disparage or humiliate litigants or other lawyers
  • Making statements that the lawyer knows to be false or with reckless disregard as to the truth or falsity concerning the qualifications or integrity of a judge

There will be another hearing in front of Judge Tunis to consider possible sanctions against Thompson on June 4th."

I think hes gone crazy (to a point where hes *im sueing you, and you and you* crazy) all he does is files lawsuits and when someone sues him he will make a counter lawsuit. hes gone *Filing-a-lawsuit* drunk.

haha aweome.

That was the first thing that came to my mind after reading this.

I don't know if this is a good thing or not. The guy had it out for video games but he is such a dumb ass that he hurt his cause more than helped it. With him out of the way some half-way competent person could take up his cause.

+1 for gamers.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
