  • "When Sony introduced the program for Playstation in 1997, games could become GH titles after selling at least 150,000 copies and being on the market for at least a year.
  • Minimum sales required eventually rose to 250,000.
  • When the program came to Ps2 in 2002, games could become GH titles after selling at least 400,000 copies and being on the market for at least 9 months.
  • Suggested retail prices of GH titles were initially $24.99, but they now typically retail for $19.99.
  • Though Sony-published games are virtually guaranteed to eventually be GH titles after they meet their sales and age marks, other companies are not required to make their games GH titles even if they meet the criteria. In addition, Sony also allows other publishers some flexibility in the pricing of their own GH titles, but most companies stick to the agreed-upon $19.99 suggested retail price. Games that are multi-million sellers may become GH titles much later than 9 months to maximize profits. It is also a common practice for a game to become a GH title at a close proximity to the release of that game's sequel or follow-up.
  • In 2006, Sony extended the Greatest Hits program to the PsP. To qualify, a title must be on the market for at least 9 months and have sold 250,000 copies or more."

Here is my question. Are they still going with the 400k standard for the Ps3? Also is the sale marker per region or is it total sales?[1]

I'm going to assume they are keeping the 400k marker and I will also assume it goes by region.[2]

So here's a possible list.

Europe

  • Grand Theft Auto 4
  • Motorstorm
  • Call of Duty 4: Modern Wardare
  • Resistance: Fall of Man
  • Assassins Creed
  • Gran Turismo 5: Prologue
  • Uncharted: Drakes Fortune
  • Pro Evolution Soccer 2008
  • Fifa '08
  • Guitar Hero 3 (Look at bullet 5. I doubt though)
  • Need for Speed: Pro Street
  • Devil May Cry 4
  • Ratchet and Clark Future: Tools of Destruction (Tribute to slimbeast)
  • Heavenly Sword
  • WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2008
  • No sales for
  • Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds
  • Ninja Gaiden Sigma
  • Lair (probablly doesnt matter anyway)

North America

  • Grand Theft Auto 4
  • Motorstorm
  • Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
  • Resistance: Fall of Man
  • Assassins Creed
  • Gran Turismo 5: Prologue (still needs 100k but I think it'll make it before Dec.)
  • Uncharted : Drakes Fortune
  • Guitar Hero 3
  • Need for Speed: Pro Street
  • Devil May Cry 4
  • Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
  • Heavenly Sword (50k to go 3,554k was last weeks sales)
  • WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2008
  • Madden NFL '08
  • Need for Speed: Carbon
  • Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion
  • Army of Two
  • Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2
  • Fight Night Round 3
  • Madden NFL '07 (Probablly too old huh?)

Japan

  • Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds
  • Dynasty Warrior 6

Japan 250k+

  • Yakuza 3: Kenzan!
  • Dynasty Warriors Gundam
  • Devil May Cry 4
  • Pro Evolution Soccer 2008
  • Gran Turismo 5: Prologue

There were only 2 games above 400k for Japan, so I'm going to have to say they are going by 250k in that region. This is where I get confused because Resistance: Fall of Man, Folklore, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Gundam: Target in Sight and Ridge Racer 7 are already Ps3 greatest hits in Japan... bah whatever.

Summary - I was bored I made a list.

Around the Network

I'm gonna say Japan is probably gonna be selling more than 100k.

Folksoul and NGS are on the "The best" list and neither has sold over 100k, so I don't know exactly how they're going about that.

R:FoM has been out for over a year and is still sold at $60 in a lot of places. It'd be solid if they started doing this though.

"Lair (probablly doesnt matter anyway)"

LOL, sorry i just found that funny

well it sold 250k in NA with only a 1.8mil user base so it's possible on a bigger user base and such it may have been able to sell 150k more in others... right??

I would looove to pick up Ninja Gaiden Sigma, to me, the game isn't a new game to warrant 60 bucks, but, heck, I wouldn't mind at 30.

Probably will pick up around 4-5 of them if they do come out... Fingers crossed!

Soriku (Feb 10/08): In 5 years the PS3/360 will be dead.

I wish they would put this into effect already. At least drop them to $30 or $40. There are a lot of cheap gamers out there who are waiting for price drops. I can't believe RFOM and Motorstorm are still $60 when I go to amazon. I'm hoping for R&C:FTOD and Burnout Paradise.
