Forums - Gaming - Second MGS4 review in -score 92 "story too complex"

I really like the elitists that are under the assumption that intelligence is needed to play or even enjoy Metal Gear, I really do. It's a sad testament to where the industry is heading when the requirements for playing the latest title is to think you're smart and to see who has the longest Elitist Stick. D:

That doesn't make much sense. Just like some books, math or philosophy or other books are written to a reader base  consisting of educated and intelligent people so are some game storylines.

great review

You dont have to be smart to play or enjoy MGS, but it would be a hell of a lot better if reviewers didnt criticise a game for BEING smart

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

Methinks you're confusing the words "smart" and "complex".

You’re assuming (of course) that Metal Gear Solid is smart, and not an incredibly convoluted story that strains creditability and hides the lack of real insight through the use of unnecessarily complex story elements.

Review scores are pointless anyway. A good review gives you the information you need to make your own "score", just like this one.

What is this national Sony hate week , MGS4 is a quality title , probably possesing quality of attention to detail , depth , storyline etc that exceeds pretty much anything on a console so far this gen. The amount of hate towards the PS3/MGS4 because of this is understandable but it's not often the PS3 get's killer exclusives so please go away trolls and wait for your turn.

People want to be controversial and give MGS4 less than it deserves for website traffic.

I like to think that the MGS series is one of the better examples of story driven games, and that despite the rather obvious stretching of this (yes you sons of liberty!) the series' story is credible and certainly more feasable than the likes of Turok or Gears of War (although Gears is probably not the best example to have used...)

You can attribute that to the modern setting and lack of aliens and dinosaurs. It's easy to find credibility when you're comparing it to completely out-there sci-fi storylines that involve other worlds, animals from 70+ million years ago, and ET.
