Forums - Gaming - Is there any ideas outhere

As usual I only post when something is disturbing me in the videogaming world, which is not so often. Some people post just because Sony CEO bought a new car. Anyway, to the point.

This past 5 months have been a tiresome fight among developers, everything started with Christmas and the so called best lineup ever in the history of videogaming (quite questionable),  but now, I see into the future, and what is there for us gamers.

As someone already posted, there are so much new characters Nintendo has, an example of that is SSB, only Olimar was a brand new name to the roster, and if my memory works well, there hasn't been a whole new character from Nintendo in this past years. Ergo, no new games. no new adventures.

Sony, on the other hand, is playing safe, it's best bets being sequels of well known games. DMC,GTA, GT, MGS and FF. And developers are being discouraged by the low sales they are having and the high cost of developing for the console. Just look at Valkyria chronicles, it has been heavily advertised here in Japan, and the sales are low. I'm sure Sega will make more money out of Sonic and Mario in the Olympics.

And Microsoft, well, there are so many FPS I can really play, and if it is trying to beat Nintendo in the plataform friendly games, well, they probably might just think again, because every dad would prefer to buy Mario Galaxy over Banjo Kazzoie, Im not saying it is a bad game, I'm just saying it lacks the popularity, and most of all ninty's name behind it.  And really fanboys face it, redoing a FPS over and over and over and over again is not innovating.

So, we have the latest of technologies in our hands, but we are just not getting our money value back, games are short, and if I want to see good graphics, I watch a movie, far better graphs, way more cheaper.

I don't really remember when was the last time I was impressed over a game, I haven't played GTA4, I don't know how good is this game, Ocarina was a generation defining Game, as well as Mario 64, is GTA4 the same, or is it just another GTA with polished graphs and a tad different gameplay.

I was looking foward last Christmas, now, I'm not really looking foward any games, this E3 must be better have some big announcments, because after all this power display, (Galaxy, Halo, GTA, SSB, MK, DMC in just 5 months, I can't recall when was the last time we had something like that), I hope the new developers come with fresh ideas new games, and a brilliant future.

There will be new game announcements in the coming months, especially for the Wii. Nintendo will definitely hit this Christmas with at least one game you will want to be buying.

Ok, I haven't finished reading yet, but way to pick Sega's most profitable game in a decade, and will probably be their most profitable game ever as a benchmark.

Viper1 beat me to it. I'm not sure why you thought Olimar was the only new character to SSBB.

As far as I see the only NEW CHARACTER, Nintendo has created, all the other characters you mention are from old Ninty's games.

And I never said Sega's Mario and Sonic Olympics was the most profitable game, I just compared it with Valkiria, which is doing terrible in Japan.

Olimar is from Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2, which are on the GC.   When you say new, do you mean from GameCube on?

Ike is from the GC, Olimar is from the GC. Nintendo themselves said it is hard to create a new character/franchise. Yes, Nintendo could make a new IP or faceless generic characters, but typically they make a new IP with intentions of creating a whole world with memorable characters, not just a single game.
