So remember when Haze got delayed last November, a month before release when print ads were already being ran, and I expressed serious concerns and people shoved the famous Miyamoto quote about delayed games in my face?

Yeah, I'm thinking I might have been right.

I am thinking you also might have been right.

Yeah, you have to be Miyamoto and the game has to have the word Mario, Metroid or Zelda in it for the quote to apply.

I would not say I am terribly shocked by the score accorded to the title. I also would like to say the negative comments are merely a mark of a massive karma reversal. When system loyalists started hyping this title, and started to wield it like a mighty broad sword the backlash was inevitable. Obviously most of those who used this game as a propaganda piece, are going to adamantly deny that they did so. However I can see the appeal of rubbing faces in it as payback.

Basically this title was heaped with accolades, proclaimed AAA, and used to bulk any and all possible exclusive lists. We all say the lists with Haze prominently mentioned as a AAA exclusive title. With a few of the scores coming in the title has no hope of AAA status, and may be lucky to get average marks if bribery is used as a standard business tactic.

Posters aren't attacking the company or the game really. They are attacking their fellow arrogant posters who rubbed their nose in the game for the last six months, and I cannot see calling fowl on them now. This is the price of hubris, and you should take every lump it will be good for you. Trying to guilt someone, because deep down you are ashamed it a pretty vulgar tactic. You talk smack, and eventually you will get a smack down.

Anyway I saw the video a few weeks ago I game my opinion then. Looks like I was pretty close to the mark.

Well, I actually think that the quote mainly works depending on why a game was delayed ...

Mario and Zelda games tend to see delays because they require further polishing but the game (in general) is already very playable and fun; in contrast, if a game is delayed because there is something fundimentally wrong with it then it is (probably) a bad sign.

To pick on Lair again, Lair was a game that was initially supposed to be released far earlier than it was and (considering the state it was released in) I suspect that it was delayed because the game was performing poorly and there were several very broken game mechanics.

4.5 of 10?
That is worst than Carnival Games and Mario Party 8.

I just read the review, and his complaints definately went deeper than just a bad story and bad graphics. He also complained about terrible AI, and broken game mechanics, and over all uninspired feel. It's just a generic FPS, and somehow I doubt the mutliplayer is exceedingly awesome if it's based off of the same generic game. He doesn't talk extensively about it, but it doesn't sound like it adds anything that the fifty FPS that came before it didn't. An assault mode? I was playing that in the original unreal tourney on PC almost a decade ago.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

To be honest, I never understood the hype for this game anyway. Never understood why it was listed with other potential AAA titles. Was it pedigree alone?

Partly because of the developer's fame, partly because it's a PS3 exclusive, partly because it was claimed to be PS3's Halo, and maybe some more reasons.

OK. Let see the facts.
All this began in 2007 when SONY face a huge difference in games for PS3 and XBOX 360. SONY loose some exclusive games. Halo 3 and Bioshock made a huge hype and there was nothing to offer from PS3 side. Kill Zone 2 was to far away. Bioshock offers good single and Halo 3 good multiplayer. SONY was pushed to do something quick. That is why they choose Haze to counter Bioshock and secure Unreal Tournament 3 to be exclusive for some time taking advantage of EPIC and MS contradiction about modes. HAZE was planned to hit the market in 2007 and was looking promising. Nothing strange here. MS did the same when MGS4 was announced as PS3 exclusive. They rush to Ubisoft to get Splinter Cell: Conviction as exclusive title, cos they don't have anything to counter MGS4.
From the moment HAZE was announced PS3 exclusive all fans started to use it in their arguments with 360 fans and to hype it to the stars. Even players that usually aren't playing FPS games praise it. This is how a normal game become AAA. Fanboys need AAA titles to slap with them thier opponents and to discuss on pointless disputes, just like 10 years old boys - is Batman stronger then Spiderman. I still think that it's a good idea to wait for Gamespot. FPS fans still can like it.
Even if the multiplayer is good this game can face the same faith as Frontlines. Good, but notting special single. Very good multiplayer, but because of the few people that bought it there is nobody to play with.

Don't now if is already posted but:

6.5

Wii code: 4679-4491-5808-6319,MKWii: 4296-3394-2843; Animal Crossing Wii: 3008-1736-4670.

If the game is as lackluster as these early reviews are saying, I'm not really surprised. This one started to smell funny a while ago. Every time a Sony fanboy started claiming Haze was going to be one of the biggest titles of the year I just shook my head.

Thank god for the disable signatures option.

Just read the gamershell review. If you already looked at IGN review, you can skip this one. It's the same.
