It's called past records. It's the same reason Spider Man/Shrek/Pirates 3 made so much, without even considering if they would be any good. People liked the last two, so they wanted to see the third.

I think it's going to sell the most on the 360 because it's the cheapest, but I think the game in general will be a huge sales disappointment, not even making the top 3 game sales this year (even when you total the PS3 and 360 sales)

IMO, hardware sales wise due to GTAIV, will go in the 360s favor 2:1 or even 3:1.

Sales wise, we should see a global 2:1 or 2.5:1 in the 360s favor.

I'd think something like:

X360 - 10m Units eventually
PS3 - 5m Units eventually

PS3 version will do near equal in Europe, better in Japan, but far worse in the US due to a 6:1 hardware advantage for the 360, plus the influx of new users due to H3, and/or ME.

And if there is a price drop, 360 sales will increase even more, I think this holiday season will be between 360 and wii, Yes wii is producing more for mfg. Here is the but, Nintendo increased production and they still can not keep up, what if there isnt enough to go around the holidays??

the 360 (if lowered)would be an alternative that wouldnt cost much, and prob available, If that happens, the wii, will inadvertnly help sell more 360's

A great game is a great game. And Halo is a great game. Furthermore it's one of the biggest games sales wise of last Gen, as it will be again this Gen. One of the other biggest is Grand Theft Auto. And this time around the 360's got Both. It'll be tempting to a lot of people. Of course the PS3 also has must have games. so does the Wii. But not even you can deny that the GTA effect will help the box as well as the station.
