Forums - Sales - DS: SIX 15-million sellers?!

It seems the sarcasm trap had been waiting for Godot (ahem, sorry).
Although he's the last one to make fun of, he's a quite new member. Great avatar, Mr. Godot!

But Zen's burning anger, wow...nice read :D
I didn't know that sarcasm should come with an instruction manual. Oh wait, j/k

Piefke, Ösi: redeemed.

And on topic:
Still crazy after all these years. I did my part, own Mario Kart & Brain Training (the friendly Japanese doctor still laughs at me). Bought NSMB, tried it, sucked at it and sold it to my nephew (<= top this confession).

You know, posting highly offensive comments and then revealing that it was all a joke is actually the worst form of trolling.

Anyways, on topic. I think they all have a high chance, although Mario Kart might face more difficulty as the DS starts to slow down, especially in Japan. On the bright side, Mario Kart Wii definitely helped to boost sales.

Sarcasm only works well on the Internet if it's funny. Sarcasm without humor is instigation.

I would rather say sarcasm in context should work. Look at my post history, look at the systems I own (Ds, Wii) and look at the games I onw (i DO own Nintendogs and I even played it some). Then look at my post and you understand.

If Zenfoldor were starting to talk trash about the Wii, I would know he is not serious.

Alright, this is getting to be such a blight, I'm gonna post about it:

Sarcasm on the internet should be unacceptable.

When a person posts on the internet, sarcastically, often they do it poorly, and the sarcasm isn't immediately apparent. They often point to investigative tips that would reveal their true intent, but here is the truth:

I don't know every poster on this board, and I'm not really good with names. Hell, the people I know the best on this forum I absolutely despise. I don't want to have to do a background check on everybody who feels the need to flame the Wii and call it sarcasm.

I skim posts. I don't want to have to read every word for a deeper meaning. Sarcasm has a time and a place, but the internet is not it. Jokes played at others expense, while funny to you, only serve to anger me completely.

The workaround is to use the sarcasm mark, which is the: ~ symbol.

After something sarcastic is posted on my guild forums, we post a ~ symbol after it. Therefore, it doesn't ruin the silly sarcastic illusion the poster was going for, but it also allows the reader to know it was sarcasm.

Fax, I already reported you, before I knew you were being sarcastic, and now with a roll of the dice, one of our many random mods might ban you, there's no way to tell with such a diverse group of punishers. I can't undo it.

Don't take this rant for something it isn't. I don't care what you all post. However, I refuse to be embarassed anymore for not picking up on your internet sarcasm. It's a joke, I know, but to me I post on the internet because I'm addicted, not for fun. Addiction is serious business.~

Anyway, that's how it is ladies and gentlemen. I'm a skimmer, I don't intricately read over all your posts, and I don't necessarily know your history, nor check your profile everytime I respond to your Nintendo bashing/sarcasm. Forgive me for misinterpretations now and again, and if you don't want me reporting your sarcasm as trolling, I suggest you either make it very clear from your actual text that sarcasm is the aim, or add a "~" symbol after your post. Thank you.

Rol, one of these days, pow, right in the kisser.

maybe you could look at the avatars if you cant keep names? I havent changed mine for at least 2000 posts.

seriously, this blindly jumping onto anyone or anything even remotely questioning ninty makes you one of the least relaxed guys on here. try to take a breath or two once in a while...

you are right, this form of trolling is so bad, it migh actually be called persiflage. seriously, try to keep some context and it might just make you look less out of touch with the community.

and here i am not talking about you but rather zen. I mean he pretty much says: I dont care for the members unless they are sony fanboys that i can scream at. way to go. nice attitude.

I thought it was pretty obvious that Faxanadu was being sarcastic.

He failed to be funny, but it was obviously sarcastic.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.
