There's been no Wii Fit peak here in North America. That 400k you saw wasn't because of Wii Fit, but because of Mario Kart, and Nintendo sending a lot of stock to counter GTAIV.

Mario Kart wasn't any sort of counter to GTAIV or it would have seen better sales, as well as it performed.

During the NA release of MK, we saw greater hardware sales for the Wii over the PS3 and 360 combined, yet GTAIV on the 360 alone has outsold combined WW sales of MK, despite being available for weeks prior in both Japan and Others.

For Week 1 NA sales, GTAIV 360 almost doubled NA sales for MK.

It was simply the availability of more consoles in NA that led to the increase in sales as most people who have been tracking Wii sales have been saying all along.

From a strategic standpoint, it would make sense for Nintendo to fill NA distribution channels prior to the release of Wii Fit in preparation, rather than ride with the assumption that everyone will simply be able to pick up both a Wii and Wii Fit on the 21st at the same time for $340.

The top officials at NOA and NCL have all said that WiiFit is the most important game out since WiiSports. And will be backing that up with lots of Wiis to go along with lots of WiiFits. There won't be the long lines at midnight that hardcore gamers 'like' to do, but instead the legs of the game will be huge.

Wiis will be needed because WiiFit is going to be so female oriented, it will look like Nintendogs percentage of young girls owning it versus everyone else. So if there isn't a Wii in the house yet, there will be.

The extra 400k sales were Mario Kart Wii sales and extra consoles Nintendo shipped to counter GTAIV release, not because of Wii Fit.

They'll do the same when Wii Fit is released, they will send more consoles to NA instead of sending them to Japan or Others, this way people will purchase the Wii along with teir Wii Fit game/pre orders.

Hey Just_Ben I heard something similiar today as well. this is weird makes it seem trustworthy to me now but weird.

I don't want to know what would happen if Wii Fit goes >2.0 Million in sales in the first two weeks in NA. I can here and see the news site and blogs crying out loud about the end of true gaming ;)

On the other hand, jugding by amazon it is pretty sold out. 3rd party retailers ask freaking 200$ for one.

 They will be crying into their beers. And complaining that Nintendo is corrupting people and making money from something that noone should buy because its "not a game". Just like Brain Training. Nintendo knows what the public want and are giving it to them.
