My favourite games of all time are almost definitely Metal Gear Solid 3 and Gran Turismo 4. They came out in the UK just a week apart - an unbelievable one for me!

But the game I will always associate with gaming as I love it and define it is Resident Evil 2. Sure the story was soon beaten by MGS and the terror by Silent Hill but that game was almost a transcendent experience for me. It secured my love of hardcore gaming as I define it and my loyalty to the PlayStation brand to this day. It also explains my disdain for and disappointment with RE4 - it's a travesty it carries the name of its truly great predecessors.

Metroid Prime

A game will have to be unbelievably spectacular for it to be better to me than MP. And I don't believe that will happen.

1. FFVII .2. GoldenEye .3. Metal Gear Solid .4. Super Mario Kart .5. Street Fighter II

''Hadouken!''

I'd have to go with Sonic & Knuckles.

It's the final installment of the Genesis Sonic titles, and I believe it is the finest. Sure, it may be the second half of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, but what a finale. The story is told flawlessly as you speed through the stages (Seeing the Death Egg buried beneath the earth while speeding through Lava Reef Zone is definitely a magic moment, and then to see it rise into the sky as you race through Sky Sanctuary Zone... priceless), the music is incredible (once again, I must go back to Sky Sanctuary Zone, my favorite video game track of all time) and the final stage is enough to challenge any Sonic fan. And of course, the final level is properly named. In Doomsday Zone you fight Robotnik (yes, you know a Sonic game is good if he's named Robotnik) in his largest and most intimidating creation yet (Puts Sonic 2's final fight to shame).

OK, now I'm just rambling, but It definitely needs it. It's a fantastic game. Plus it comes on the console with Blast Processing. Sega does what Nintendon't. (Or something.)

Oh, and I have to give some brownie points to yungmagic09 (Sonic 3), maxlokin (Sonic 1), Nickelbackro (Sonic 2), and allaboutthegame885 (all of the Genesis ones :P) for their stellar choices.

damn hard to say.

Super Mario World? Starcraft? Ocarina Of Time? Half-Life? Chrono Trigger? One of those I'd say, but I don't think I could pick just one.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

What I love about this thread is you can roughly tell when a person started getting seriously into games based on their favorite one. My favorite is either Super Mario World, or Masters of Orion 2. I do forever have a special spot in my heart for the original Ninja Gaiden though.

Starcraft is damn good

''Hadouken!''

Persona 3

Runner ups:

- Metal Gear Solid
- Super Mario 64
- Final Fantasy IX
- Final Fantasy X
- Resident Evil 4

Thought this was earlier games - but overall I'd have to say my heart belongs to Grim Fandango...

Why can't they make 'em like that anymore?

I have to mention ICO too, its a tough call between them but Grim Fandango just edges it due to its humour and wonderful setting.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
