back before the ps1 and the n64 came out, sony and nintendo were working on a console together. Some thing happened and nintendo decided to cancel the ageement. Then then leased their coinsole ps1, and it turned out to be the highest selling console at that time. So what I am asking is what would have happened if nintendo didnt cancel and sony and them made a superconsole that was home to mario and crash bandicoot. 

Crash Bandicoot wouldn't have happened if the original playstation was made. Thankfully.

Also, Nintendo would have been completely screwed over by Sony - which is the main reason why they dropped the deal.

Sega would still be in the game. MSFT would still probably get in in 2001 w/ the Xbox to expand the MSFT name into the living room and the results would be Nintendo on top, Sega number 2, followed by MSFT 3rd.

 No microsoft would have never got in , because they wouldn't see sony as a threat.

Nintendo backed out because thay wasn't sure with the Sony company using the CD format and went back to the cartridge system to which they were already using. If Sony and Nintendo would have merged and made one system there is no doubt in my mind that we all would have Nintendostation wii3's in all of our homes and we wouldn't be yelling at each other about which system is better.

Nintendo backed out because by making the cd based system sony would get rites to all of nintendos franchises. This could have caused  another phillips.

thats a big WHAT IF.

but, I'd guess the Sony/Nintendo console, whatever they call it, would be the big one today. it would probably be the closest thing to a monopoly.

Every other console that entered the market wouldn't do much. They'd be a small splash in the ocean.


Sega would be done, M$ would be done, nobody would stand a chance.

i thought it wasnt a new console but rather a SNES add-on.
