You can argue this isn't the best game, but it REDEFINED many things. Saying it didn't define anything makes it just seems like a run-of-the-mill good game. Ocarina of Time is, was, and always be Legendary. Period.

OoT was a run-of-the-mill good game. Well, run-of-the-mill great game. It redefined nothing. What it did do however, is bring what PC gamers had for years to the masses. Everything about that game had seen before, if you played PC games.

Just becuse it's the first time 90% of gamers got the fortune of experiancing what PC gamers had seen in many other games does not make it the greatest game of all time.

I agree with you that it does however, make it Legendary.

That is clearly biased. There should be 1 more green and 1 less purple.

Ugh, I hate people that always try to tell us how much more awesome PC gaming is when we're not even anywhere near that subject.  Just go away if you have nothing constructive to add.

We are talking about a games place in history. OoT's place in history is to bring previously conceved game dynamics to the masses. It did that better then any game before it. I just wanted to make it clear that that's what it did. It did not reinvent anything.

So I'm just curious, what do you think made OoTof time legenday and what PC games did all that before it?

And if you bothered to actually read the topic rather than troll it with your lol PC is better crap, you would have noticed this topic isn't about OoT place in history, it's about cubed3 adjusting their reviews.

-edit-

And it's not that I doubt the things that made OoT special were done before, it's just that I ask because I have to wonder if TheRealMafoo is one of those tools that just hear people talk about how great PC gaming is and just repeat what others mentions.

Well a lot assumed it had to be, because it's somehow not possible to look just at the numbers objectively, which is what I was trying to do.

And I concede on the damn rounding thing. It apparently is just a guideline, not a hard and fast law. What the hell ever. It will still seem like an awfully big coincidence that this is when they did it.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

At first glance I would agree about the coincidence thing but they did it to the whole site and it's a Nintendo site. Wouldn't they want Nintendo to stay on top?

Well I actually did point that out in an earlier post here.

Yet even if it's not to spite Nintendo, they'll get attacked for using a system that still knocked OoT off the top, whether it's fair or not.

In your defense it is taught as a hard and fast law in most math classes. Once you start taking the higher level maths though the rounding rules get very fuzzy.

So you think I am trolling this thread? I was the second poster, and 50% of this thread is a conversaion with me and the OP. I am the main reason this thread is two pages long. Did YOU bother to read it?

I started gaming in 1976 (at the age of 7) when my dad bought me Pong, and have been a gamer sence. I did not need someone to tell me what came before OoT, I lived it.

OoT is legendary because it brought to the masses a gaming experience never before brought to the masses. So it's the first of its kind for many people, and will hold a place in there hearts forever. That makes it legendary. The fact that every element of the actual game has been done before, makes it not revolutinary (unless you want to calling bringing it to the masses revolutionary).

The game that comes to mind, is Dagger Fall. That game was an rpg, but very much like OoT is layout. You could go anywhere, and the world was persistent. As for the story telling, there were great stories before it, like Fallout. The combat was tight, but nothing new.

Out of curiosity, if you feel what I am saying it accurate (with your last paragraph), what about it pissed you off? Am I now alowed to state the truth in this thread?
