Well I for one was semi-impressed. Actually the tech demo I found more impressive then the actual gameplay demo. However the gameplay demo does look very impressive considering the crap we've been given in the 1st person shooter space. I would say it does strongly resemble that of first generation 360 games like CoD2 etc...etc... small details like the lack of any visuals in the scope for example set this game on a lower level then the like of CallOfDuty.
Basic small details that have become industry standard are missing from the game. Such as high end textures and realism like the scope sporting just plain glass. The effects of the rocks and the wall bursting are also sort of dated they look like something I would expect from a high end X-Box game. However the Wii is exactly that a high end X-Box with a Wiimote.
I think the reason I will pick this game up is if it has online Death Match. The guns look pretty interesting and the story while typical does catch my attention. In the demo I noticed the Illuminaty Symbol being used again and again (Pyramid with the all seeing eye" I wonder how they fit the illuminaty into the plot line.
In the end for a Wii game it sports pretty decent visuals and I'm betting High Voltage will only improve those visuals before launch. The engine appears to be pretty ground breaking for the Wii and I think that once developers get their hands on it we will see massive improvements as we have with the Unreal engine when third parties got their tweeking little hands on it.
Its a great start for the shooter genre on the Wii. Because really we haven't had a single real standing out shooter launched to date!
