Forums - Gaming - More Capcom Wii Support? Okami Selling Less

Capcom Europe recently dropped a small hint of more Wii support to be announced in June.

Whilst discussing sales for Okami on Wii, Capcom's Christian Svensson has revealed that the game has sold less than the PS2 version at this stage of release, "dropping off in an expected pattern. It's only been a couple weeks so I wouldn't expect the drop off to have leveled yet."

Users on the Capcom boards have questioned him into future support for the Wii, and he replied: "as for more support, let's talk in June."

Well, I guess that means this game was never destined to succeed after all. Oh well...

well considering alot of people made noise about the end credits being cut off I am not suprised. It shows that people won't support something that has been altered in a manner like this

RE5 for Wii confirmed.

on a less serious note, I hope that Okami sees better sales in Europe.

What an arrogant company capcom is. They weren't like that before. Judging sales patterns on remakes or ports doesnt make sense to me.

Even Zack&Wiki broke their expectations, REUC also did, but hey, stop releasing ports to "Test" the console, if you want to make a quick buck forget about huge sales on ports of niche games (RE4 sold very well cause it wasnt niche) and accept that sales will be lower.

Come on Capcom get freaking real.

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.

Well let's look at it objectively...

They changed the games' visual style (a little).
They removed the ending credits.
They screwed up the fleetfoot move by mapping it to the nunchuck waggle.
They added nothing.
They fixed none of Okami's other big problems.

It's a good game, but there is honestly no reason to buy the Wii version if you bought the PS2 version. Capcom also shipped hardly any units. I went to 3 stores before I found one that had Okami in stock and the ones that didn't had no idea what it even was.

Capcom did a crappy port job and so they're getting crappy sales.

They aren't 'judging' anything--they've said on many occasions that they're very pleased with the way their Wii games are selling! They simply stated that Okami didn't sell as much as the PS2 version, and they expected that.

By saying, "Let's talk in June," he's blatantly saying that they have new games in development to be announced at E3.

@Topic: New Resident Evil with an upgraded RE4 engine, anyone??

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I didn't say it was the Wii's fault. I said this game failed to succeed and will probably become a simple footnote in gaming history, among others like Psychonauts.

The key words are "at this stage of release".

I hope not.
