Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Super Smash Bros. Brawl Official Updates

I'd rather have clean and detailed 2D sprites like JUS rather than rough and jaggy 3D N64 graphics. I've recommended this before to people, but I'll say it again: If you really want a good handheld Brawler (WiFi multiplayer and all) JUS is a great game to import. There is no need to know Japanese, and the game is fun whether you know most of the Manga characters or not.

I don't get why Nintendo can't just advertise voice chat capabilities would only be offered to those who exchange friend codes.

If we're allowed little stupid pre-written chat phrases before a match, which I am DEFINITELY going to fill with things like "Ass" and "F***" just for the heck of it hehe...and I'm certainly able to do so with friends...then why not just add voice as well?

totally agree. 50/50 that this happens ,or maybe 20/80, still voice chat have a possibility.

ill be using gamecube %100 sure :D. just wiimote could get a little inconvenient, like to throw an item you needa shield, sorta... i believe this means that if you jumped, and hit B+2 to throw an item you would do a mid-air dodge, if you hit b first. if you hit 2 first you would do an attack

Bet With routsounmanman: By the end of Q1 2008 Capcom WONT have announced a RE5 Wii Edition OR a new RE (classic gameplay) for the Wii (WON)

Seen videos, looks great for a good DS fighter...but I don't think that style works for Smash at all.

2D sprites could be alright...but JUS looked more like a "get the HP down or knock them off to win" game.  Big thing about Smash is the more damage you get, the farther you fly...and with characters flying and hitting the ground certain amounts of distance...zooming in and out of the battlefield as they fly, I really think you'd need 3D models to zoom correctly...2D sprites aren't really good for that sort of thing.

They could up the polygons a fair amount from the N64 graphics I'm sure...it wouldn't look that bad.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

About the controls, I will try out all kinds of controlls untill I can find one that is better and if not, I'll use my Gamecube controllers hehe.

About Meowth, he's the obvious choice of pokemon to include in the game. Jigglypiff was kinda useless. I'm a fan. I'm looking forward to skyrocket him back in the sky with Pokemon trainer or Pikachu.

People seem to think it's either

A) Wiimote only
or
B) GC/Classic controls.

Most people will probably have nunchucks already, and I'm sure the Wiimote+nunchuck control scheme will be pretty similar to the GC/Classic control scheme. I have a feeling a lot of people will default to this control scheme after a while.

Meowth is just a Pokemon called from a Pokeball, not a playable character.

Dammit, I've been late for the Smash updates 3 nights in a row. I predict Sonic music and stage for tomorrow. I scoped out the Japanese Smash page and couldn't find out what they call the coins on Meowth's forehead.

I think Meowth's Japanese name is from a Japanese story about a cat who walks around with a coin on his head without knowing it.

Just like Pikachu is from Pika = electricity, Chu = what a mouse sounds like -> electric mouse.

(I read this somewhere a long time ago, I could be wrong)
