Crazy to think DK and Mario are 26 years old. But Sonic and Yoshi and Solid Snake and Link and Zelda all were not around when I was born. Really makes you think what will be around when my son hits 21.

I thought I've seen Sonic long before Yoshi.
Maybe it's due to popularity. Yoshi didn't make its name until Super Mario World, I think.

Yoshi - Super Mario World - 1990 in Japan, 1991 in North America, 1992 in Europe.

So in the U.S., Yoshi and Sonic busted out at the same time. The reason it feels like Sonic is older is because Yoshi's Island wasn't until 1995, but Sonic 2 was 1992, Sonic 3 was 1994, and Sonic and Knuckles was also 1994. Sonic had 4 games before Yoshi even got his second game. And that's not counting Yoshi's Cookie or the BILLION Sonic games on Game Gear. They started pumping out Sonic games as fast as they could to get people to stop waiting for the next Mario.

Superman (Superman 64)

Bidoof (Pokemon D/P)

Scooby Doo (Scooby Doo Mystery)

I hope Mario's alternate outfits let him dress as Referee Mario from Punch-Out!, Dr. Mario, and his construction-ish outfit from Wrecking Crew. Or at least golf clothes from... Golf.

I was going to be a smart-ass and correct you by saying there was a game with Yoshi in it on the NES, but turns out it was released in 1991.

I hope Sonic doesn't doesn't get nerfed in favor of Nintendo characters.
