Snake? SNAAAAAAAAAAAAKE?!

^O_O

Around the Network

looks like he is about to get raped

I'm still trying to figure out what that move could do.. i'm thinking, beyond the obvious of 'an attack', it might be the "hold" move (which is followed by a throw)

I'd like to see snake pull that move off with jiggly puff, zamus, and D.K.

This game has just gained many awesome points...

That is the coolest screenshot ever released in this game. Break his f@ckin arm! Expect macro of this and the girl fighters with "LOL RAPE" superimposed to circle the internet. How is this going to work on the non humanoids? C"mon somebody triple-update this beauty! What an awsome week this was. And Snake's theme...kickass.

I never get the attraction of some of these characters. It's not just that I am a fan of what Nintendo does, but these type characters just seem boring to me, maybe because it's nothing too far from what we see in real life. I don't know. He just seems bland compared to the rest.

Ah well, most people will like it I'm sure. He does seem so alone amongst all the Nintendo characters. They best be announcing some more 3rd party characters soon.

i cant see how that (breaking ikes arm) is a move, cos it just wouldnt work for most characters. i mean, how could he do that to ivysaur? its probably part of cut-scene. IMO anyway

Update: Metal Gear Solid: MGS4 Love Theme (Smash Bros. Brawl Version)

Composition Supervisor: Nobuko Toda
Arrangement Supervisor: Akihiro Honda

All copyrights for this song are held by Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd.
Check your volume settings.

As explained under the My Music section, members of Konami’s Metal Gear Solid sound team have personally provided song arrangement!

Add the pace of this majestic song to production values rivaling that of Hollywood composers, and the result is spectacular.

Oh, of course this song will be played on a stage with a Metal Gear Solid motif. So you can look forward to that, too.

Update: Snake: Special Moves

It’s not just Snake’s special moves that use ordnance—so do his Smash attacks. Can that be?

He’s shooting something up in the air!

He’s planting something!

(Side Special Move: Remote Missile)

This is called a Nikita. It’s a remote-controlled missile.

Missile fired!

You can control the missile yourself! But since Snake is so focused on controlling the missile, he’s completely defenseless while he does so.

If things get dangerous, press the shield button to stop controlling the missile.

(Standard Special Move: Hand Grenade)

Try walking around with the pin out.

Press your special-move button to pull out the pin. The grenade will explode after a few seconds, so be aware of the time and press the special-move button again to toss the grenade.

Strong Throw!

Mid Throw!

Soft Throw!

There are three ways to throw the grenade.
Tilt the Control Stick forward, not at all, or backward.

In some cases, grenades you drop may get returned to sender.

And his recovery special move is...

(Up Special Move: Cypher)

Oh! Watch out! In times like this...

Shoosh-shoosh-shoosh-shoosh-shoosh!

Use his flying reconnaissance camera, the Cypher, to recover. Snake can’t fly, but he’ll do what he must.

He’ll use anything in the battlefield. That’s the crux of survival.

-Manella: Yeah... sux0rz! I hate missing out on food...
-Maya: Nick... what does "Sucksores" mean?
-Phoenix: No idea...

@EEPiccolo - Snake's moves are already up on the Dojo's site.

"Other games have used the term Wi-Fi functionality in the past like Metroid Prime 3 and Rune Factory."

No, the term was not used in the way it was for Smash Bros. Those were brought up with explicit denials of multiplayer.

IGN Wii: Will Metroid Prime 3 feature an online mode?

Kensuke Tanabe: No, we have only single-player. I have also produced Prime Hunters and for that game I tried to use the Wi-Fi Connection for multiplayer. For Prime 3, I would like to concentrate more on the single-player so I decided not to implement multiplayer for Prime 3. As you know, Wii will have Connect 24, so we are thinking more about the possibility of using that functionality so that the player can get something.

http://ds.ign.com/articles/665/665994p1.html

Rune Factory's network mode seems to be somewhat limited. Players will be able to exchange messages with friends and open up a shop to sell items. There should be a few other network features beyond this, although we've heard nothing about actual cooperative play.

Now how was online described with Smash Bros.? Sakurai said, "One of the primary reasons Super Smash Bros. Brawl was created was that Nintendo, when taking Wii online, wanted to have Smash Bros. to do that"

That may not be explicit, but basically stating that the game was designed to show off the Wii's online, with no explicit denials of online multiplayer (and you can see that for Metroid quite clearly*) looks about as clear as you can get otherwise.

*And even though that was explicit, many gamers expected online play, and were actually angry when it was confirmed the final build didn't have it. If players could be in denial of something that clear, of course you would be in denial of news that didn't spell itself out.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
