I think that last guy, according the caption, is simply a new Smash Brothers exclusive character, like the polygon people, who punishes or regulates the fighting ring in this mode.

Mario and Kirby are just shaking hands before their fight, methinks.

I saw it as Mario reviving Kirby from his trophy, then them shaking hands and signiffying an alliance against whatever is coming (obviously coming from Meta Knight's ship for some reason...)

It does say that the rules of the ring are to "fight" But then Mario and Kirby hold hands like they are friends. Is THAT breaking the rules? And therefore bring on the wrath of the regulator in the last picture?

I don't get how you could "play" that but might be a possibility.

I just want to know who or what that thing is. I pretty sure it's some kind of enforcer, maybe a replacement for Master Hand???

yeah, that and the eyes is why I said he looked a little like Eggplant man, but that symbol oh his chest looks like a general smash brothers type symbol.

Didn't they say that they originally wanted everyone to have a unique story mode in Melee but didn't have enough time.

Holy crap could you imagine the amount of play time you would get if everyone had a unique story mode. Maybe this one has to do w/Kirby. Metaknight's ship appears after all.
