A semi replacement for life mode where when you die you turn into a trophy? Mayhaps those who collect the most trophies wins at the end?

I'm pretty sure Mario helping Kirby rather than fighting him is the breaking the rules... but yeah, W. T. F. lol
You fought trophies in Melee too. You fought a number of characters and then won the trophies for each them. The number of characters increased with each battle until you had fought every other character in the game. This might just be an extension of that concept and mode.
