the ps2 brought nothing new

But I would argue you shouldn't discount the PS2 for not being innovative. Yes a solid integrated online component like Xbox Live and the included HD were big steps in console gaming but just as big were many of the solid franchises on the PS2.

Why do you think we have to put with Crazzyman always listing his list of 7-10 sequels that spell PS3 domination? You have to admit there were some classic franchises on the PS2, both sequels from the original PS and new IPs.

after hearing about how innovative the wii is

Also regarding the Wii, the control scheme is innovative but I dare say without solid games to back it up the interest would have died a long time ago. Personally I love how it feels more immersive to have the wiimote controls but I wouldn't keep playing with it if there weren't good games I enjoyed on it and i'm assuming that's the same as many other Wii owners.

i will not argue the ps2 when it comes to games, no consoles come close to its game library, none. But as a hardware, its a piece of crap, coming from an owner.

Gamecube only had Nintendo games, Xbox had FPS and PS2 had the rest. I don't think there is much to debate about.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Even with a modded xbox (largest game library available, media capabilities) it got the least use in my house of all three 6th gen consoles.

It was the best console in terms of modability. Super easy to mod and once modded it's usefulness skyrockets. Definitely hardware wise it was most powerful and most able. And they did push wide-area multi-player foreward. The controllers weren't the best though.

It's software library wasn't the best. It's software library was the least original of the 6th gen, benefiting greatly from multi-platform games and PC games. The main thing the Xbox proved software wise was that PC style games can survive and thrive on consoles.

I agree with you and disagree with you. But from the strengths you're pointing out you're emphasizing the one I agree with.

Maybe the Xbox was technically superior, but I couldn't stand the background sound that thing was making. It was an extremely loud console, imo, and I expect all my technical devices, which are not designed for cleaning, to be as silent as possible (I'm posting this on a iMac, which makes less noise than most laptops).

I still regret not having bought a PS2 to accompany my GC. I know now that the PS2 library would've matched my personal tastes much better than the Xbox.

But I didn't have a clue about console gaming then (e.g. never heard of Zelda before sometime in 2002) and I didn't know I would fall in love with Japanese games. In the late 90s I quit PC gaming and ironically one of the two consoles I bought some years later was designed for PC games.

Was the Xbox a good console? Yes, of course. But not for me.

The only reason I liked the Xbox1 was for XBMC...

The only game Xbox1 had was Halo. Well, and Fuzion Frenzy :)

Besides that, the games were horrible on the Xbox1... Absolutly horrible :(

Hardware wise, it was probably the most perfect console. I have had 0 problems with my Xbox1. No fan issues, no mobo issues, no overheating, no hdd problems, it is a perfect peice of hardware (From my experience, 6~ years)

My ps2 still works.. my first one :p.. soooo.. maybe you were unluckey ?

It seems like many people have different views on the reliability of the playstation two.

Check out my game about moles ^

I have a Gamecube, Playstation 2, and an Xbox.

The Xbox's game selection is probably my least favorite, especially since I rather play games that also appear on the PC on the PC, but the controller is by far my favorite.

The S-controller that is. The HUEG controller is too big even for me.

Right click and view for the full thing, this always made me laugh :D

So many people posting here that don't have the SLIGHTEST idea what games were on XBOX. Sure, no JRPGs. SO F****N WHAT??? I find JRPGs funny and pathetic. So, apart from that i own 112 games for xbox (and i got rid of some bad games that i don't count). 112 games aren't enough for a gen? No?
Every multiplatform was extensively superior and it had exclusives that appealed perfect to my tastes. All i missed is RE4.

(MGS2 is included in the games that i got rid of and it's not in my list. Sam Fisher OWNS snake!) LOL!

And as a machine, its a monster. And the XBMC and the UnleashX turns it into the perfect media player AND emulator (I played Ocarina of Time yesterday!!!)
