Maybe the Xbox was technically superior, but I couldn't stand the background sound that thing was making. It was an extremely loud console, imo, and I expect all my technical devices, which are not designed for cleaning, to be as silent as possible (I'm posting this on a iMac, which makes less noise than most laptops).
I still regret not having bought a PS2 to accompany my GC. I know now that the PS2 library would've matched my personal tastes much better than the Xbox.
But I didn't have a clue about console gaming then (e.g. never heard of Zelda before sometime in 2002) and I didn't know I would fall in love with Japanese games. In the late 90s I quit PC gaming and ironically one of the two consoles I bought some years later was designed for PC games.
Was the Xbox a good console? Yes, of course. But not for me.
