I had a PS2 and Gamecube and personally believed that the Gamecube had the best games of the generation while the PS2 had the most good games ...

I always thought the XBox was an awkward console that fell between what I saw as the great Nintendo first party exclusives and the massive third party support of the PS2, and was further hurt because (practically) every good XBox exclusive game could be played on my PC.

I owned only XBox (no PS2 last gen)and it was one of the reasons I came back to Playstation .It was one of the most regretful decisions I made in console buying.I only liked Dead or alive 3 and Prince of Persia sands of time.

last gen, the game that made me most jealous with PS2 was god of war.When I saw the trailer for God of war I wanted to throw my Xbox out of the window.I owned ninja gaiden but the game lacked good story big time and it was unforgiving hard,,,like you had to be a freaking nerd(meaning you had to play it 4 hours everyday) to get pass chapter 10.All in all I only had 8 games last gen lool.

It's more that I wonder why you chose to discuss such an old review.

I had the PS2, XBOX, and although the ps2 had the most games, there was a huge difference between the two. IT almost felt that the xbox was ahead of its time and people were not ready for it. I much prefered the way games looked on the xbox, and most of all i still have it , while i had to replace my ps2 3 times until i got the ps3.

The Xbox tried to capitalize with its hardware features and capabilities,why not being fresh meat and all.

I think it comes down to what you want to play...

Had I bought a gamecube only last gen I probably would have been burning Nintendo flags... I bought it and played the 3 resident evil games, Metroid Prime over the span of 4 years.

I had all 3 consoles and my play time can be divided as follows:

Xbox -50%

ps2 - 40%

Gamecube - 10%

 Well have you picked up God of War and God of war 2 to play on your PS3? I am assuming your PS3 is BC. You can always get a PS2 for dirt cheap and buy the games you missed out on used game section at local Video game store.

Any game on  PS1/PS2/PS3/PSP is a good game. 

XBox besides the games you just mentioned other good games on XBox included: Splinter Cell games Halo, Ninja gaiden Black, Doom 3 and a couple other good games that I have forgotten about. 

I own an Xbox and bought only one game for it. (It came bundled with 4 games).

One game though...

It's the only console I've ever owned, where I only bought a single game for it.

It's online was quite good, and I liked the fact you could store music on the harddrive. (Some games like counter-strike let you play custom tracks.)

Personally I think last generation the PS2 was easily the best console followed by the Xbox and then the Gamecube at a very distant third.

The Gamecube comes last in my view because I personally don't like Nintendo's first party games, and RE4 was only decent experience I had with the system.

I only picked up God of war II due to time constraints.I loved it,,,great story ,fun and brutal game play,it's the genre that I like t.(hack and slash with good story).

But I have to add that my Xbox did not have any problems .Ps2 seems to have some problems .
