Forums - Gaming - Which of the three big console companies is the most likely to quit?

SEGA - what?

too soon?'

Sony but with the PS4, I've never tracked Sony's other braches, I should though... but if one department works in a loss I'm not sure how the company reacts.

So far they're very good about making a come back.

Microsoft want's to dominate, that's what that company is about, they want majority sales and majority profit in every industry they step into.

But they want to seperate each industry, but merge them only for Microsoft.

Sony is slowly turning into a electronics/software company - can't have that happening for Microsoft now...

So Sony has to get the boot first then Microsoft if they coninute to lose money will go next.

But something like that may happen within the next 4 years.

Though it could be unlikely that Sony would even flinch at a billion dollar loss.

Microsoft is over there with some jovial ear to ear smile - I must love billion dollar losses.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

The Official Huge Monster Hunter Thread:

The Hunt Begins 4/20/2010 =D

Around the Network

Here are my thoughts:

Microsoft: With the original Xbox, they tossed it into the market at a big loss to take Sony on at their own game, and attempt to prevent them from being the dominant all-in-one entertainment center (they wanted the PC to have this position). As it stands now, they've been 'somewhat' successful in that regard. The Playstation brand isn't as dominant as it was, even though the PS3 is now regularly outselling the 360. They're just starting to make money now, and the Xbox brand is well-respected, despite the RRoD problem. Now, with Apple rapidly gaining marketshare in the computer industry, they are much better off keeping their options open by releasing game systems.

Sony: Despite a disastrous first year, in which they lost most of the money they'd made from the first two Playstations, along with most of their respect in the industry and with consumers alike, they still managed to sell more than the 360's first year with a higher price tag. It now seems as if they have reached a plateau where they will at least be able to compete well with Microsoft (though if you said that to the wrong person last generation you would've gotten your ass kicked).

Nintendo: ...

'Nuff said.

ON THE OTHER HAND:

I do believe there's a good chance two others may enter the market.

EA: They're buying up studios like mad, and they already have games that automatically sell millions each year. It's generally understood that the 'Madden' console is the one you want to be, and, well... yeah... Let's just say it would eat into the market like a vulture on a dead guy.

Apple: They're rapidly gaining marketshare in computers, Microsoft practically doesn't EXIST in the music market--why not go in for the kill? An Apple console could feasibly do quite well, as they are the only company with the 'cool' factor in the general public enough to plausibly compete with Nintendo.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?
