Forums - Sony - PlayStation Blog: "HAZE runs in 720p"

@ Deviation59 )

I see, I might have mixed up those, but Haze looks pretty sharp on my screen (32'' - you might have a bigger one) and has very little aliasing, although it was said, that this demo doesn't have any AA

Noone said it didn't run at 720, people said that it didn't render at 720. There is a difference.

If someone can come out and say... "Haze renders at 720p" I would be convinced. Otherwise it just sounds like corporate spin.
Chances are if they say it runs at 720p then they mean it renders at 720p, why bullshit now just to have people bitch at them later if it isn't rendered at 720p.

Wasn't it that Quaz guy that said it was 576p? Personally I don't trust the guy, regardless of his history, just some internet nerd that posts on a forum.

Cause that's what PR guys have done with every single other game?  Seriously, it's the PR standard to mean upscaling.

Upscaling softens up sharp lines, it also gives the look of having AA.

Tease.

whatever, so much fuzz for a demo....a sucky one at that, it could be 1080p at 60fps running flawlessly and it would still suck (the content in the demo).

To be honest the demo doesn't look as sharp as other PS3 games. So I am inclined to believe the 576p rumors. Other games lik Assassin's, Gran Turismo, Uncharted etzc. look much sharper.

I didn't actually think the demo sucked... I think it lacked grounding. It was an extract from the game that did nothing to actually tell you what the rest of the game might be like. I've heard really good things about both the script and the gameplay as the game progresses.

Keep in mind that as stupid as the dialog from your teammates is, each and every one of them has essentially been abusing a controlled and modified form of PCP for months if not years. The only reason Shane isn't the same way is because he's brand new to the squad.

IMO, there's no arguing that the technical/graphical aspects of the demo are anything other than surprisingly poor, however. Hopefully, it really is from a year-old build of the game as so many of the rumors have claimed. What I'm afraid of is that they're just trying to justify the experience on their screen when it looks so much worse than the screenshots published for the game. The screenshots are much sharper with much more detail, especially the newest ones. I really hope they're not bullshots.

I thought GTA proved it that native resolution was not a great indicator of how well a game looked. Anyone remember the 360 vs. PS3 comparisons? Not saying a 480 game will look better than a 720, but most of us will not be able to tell the difference between 576 and 720 verticle resolution. If Quaz didn't discover this in the demo, this thread wouldn't even exist.

That being said, I find it odd the developer won't clarify if the game renders at 720 or is upscaled. I would also like some clarification on the build date of the demo. It was fun and different, but it didn't make me want to buy the game.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

Most people can't tell the slightest difference between the two in GTA4. But the difference between 576p upscaled to 720p and 640p upscaled to 720p is noticeable.

I find it laughable that on consoles whose main selling point is the HD (so 1080), games have to make statements to say they are 720p.....

That is why i love the PC, you don't get cheated on the resolution!
