You do know that oil companies/oil producing countries RAISE prices when demand is up/supply down, right? I'm pretty sure that Nintendo is still charging the same price for the Wii whether or not demand is up/supply down. (I'm not counting ebay, because that is not Nintendo selling them for inflated prices.) |
I know I was just giving a counter argument to the person trying to explain me the market mechanism ( the part I bolded).
Nonetheless if Nintendo as a company could have a choice between :
1) Selling 50 millions Wii this year and then selling 2 million Wii each of the 3 years after
2) Selling 25 millions Wii this year, 27 the year after , 28 the year after and 29 the 4th year.
They would pick 2 hands down even if it would sell 1 million units less in the end.
2) Provides steady growth and doesn't require them to temporary increase production ( which is something costly to do).
this thread is hilarious!

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Either no price drop or a very small one. Now you know why MS hasn't played it's big price drop yet, they've been waiting for this to happen...to strike at the time when Sony can't react. Sony has to stop these losses somehow and you can't do that with price drops, MS did the same last year at the cost of a bit of market share and the profit is now rolling in just in time to price drop this holiday and take PS3 to the cleaners. |
um.. no.... just no
