Forums - Nintendo - 1-up's wii fit review

I wonder how they reviewed God of War and DMC series then.

Seriously not every game is designed for multiplayer (online or offline) and they shouldn't be penalised just because they made a smart design choice (imagine how awful DMC multiplayer would be).

I think the wii's got it pretty hard this generation, most Gamecube and PS2 games were faily compared to THEIR OWN library's in terms of graphics rather than comparing the graphics to a xbox game. I wonder why the wii got the short end of the stick this time around.

I think a lot of reviewers end up deciding what they want to give a particular game (as a score) and then justify that score ...

If they decide that they want to give Bioshock a 10/10 then multiplayer (of any form) is unnecessary, while if they want to give Wii Fit a 7.5/10 they use "no multiplayer" as a shortcomming to dock marks; on a flip side if they want to give Halo a 10/10 then the enjoyment of multiplayer easily compensates for the lackluster single player campaign, and if they want to give Mario Kart a 7.5/10 the single player campaign was not good enough to justify a greater score.

My problem with all these casual social games like Wii fit, Wii sports, Rock band, guitar hero and 70% of normal wii games is that one doesn't take any emotion or feeling after the game is turned off.

They are all phisycal activities which are only fun in the moment you are playing them...they are a good diversion and have their place in gaming but shouldn't really be considered the next step. A good non-casual video game can scare you, can make you think, can engage your with a story, impress you wil art design...etc...long after you turn off your console...this can't.

Otherwise that's a pretty fair review in my opinion...

Reviewers would look pretty silly if they gave something that is sure to sell several millions a low score. It soon will be over 2mil in Japan alone. Give it any lower, and they are just proving to be a bunch of out of touch elitist.

sometimes wonder if reviewers have a check list:
() On-line capabilities
() Multiplayer capabilities
() High resolution muted color graphics
() Explosions
...
() Long cinematics
...
() How the disc looks
...
() Soundtrack by____________
...
() How nicely the letter from publisher smelled
...
...
...
() fun

 Haha!

I know some people that would say the opposite...  They get emotion out of social games and would consider a good non-casual video game is for the moment only.  Wii fit is something that engages you throughout the week as you follow the advice from the game, etc...

Actually, it would be really fun to be able to play multiplayer just by hot-swapping. I think now you need to go back all the way to Wii Fit Plaza to change the Mii, and that pretty much eliminates for example hola hoop competitions, unless you want to use the one and same Mii for everybody, which kinda defeats the purpose of tracking your excercise time...

Who cares about reviews on the Wii anymore... Wii Fit is going to sell like crazy...

Not to pick on you in particular, but I really dislike this attitude ... The attitude is similar to someone saying that the only movies that can be considered the "next step" are the big-budget epic dramas and a comedy movie is only a good diversion which has no lasting impact.

Games like Boom Blox, My Sims, and Cooking Mama have a far more unique and interesting art style than (pretty much) any of the major games released for the PS3 or XBox 360; in a large part this is due to the focus on "realism" in many XBox 360 and PS3 games, and there really is (almost) no style in producing an exact duplicate to a car regardless of whether it is being used in a racing game or first person shooter.
