Forums - Gaming - Have you been happy with this current generation?

I have been happy with the performance of the PS3 it has been good and provided a lot of fun gaming experiences. I would like to be able to buy a 360 or a Wii too one day and see what they are like compared to the PS3. Just limited funds prevents me from going out and buying a second console. PS3 has its best titles to appear within the next year or two.

I would say no. Because this generation has had good games but they have been released scarcely. Secondly, this generation has been a lot of hype. Lots hype on a game and once you play it you ask yourself why all the hype.

It will get better with time but so far I've been disappointed. Where are the sleeper hits this gen? Games that get no hype and end up with legendary status in the end.

A Yes and a No. Yes because many fun multiplayer games are out this gen. No because, Damn games are getting expensive and expensive. :C

yes. In 1.5 year of owning a Wii, I've bought more games in a shorter time, than ever before, and I've loved every one of them. As stated in another thread, I wasn't planning on buying a console this generation until I saw Wii Sports.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

NO, WII is disappointing me kinda lately, when it comes to real quality games, mostly from 3rd party developers, plus the whole casual thing is really getting boring to me. The new life it has been brought in with WII Ware is giving me some happiness about the WII again, question is only... for how long... PS3 I wasn't positive about before buying, became positive as soon as I used it more and I consider it my favorite above my WII, but am very disappointed about the games! Still waiting for those RPG's and the line up is dramatic. If I worked at Sony I would really start kicking asses around with developers to make some move with games instead of keeping them postponed all the time, or keep gamers waiting unnecessary long. It takes progress my ass, Imnsoniac and Naugthy Dog don't have the trouble of releasing quality games fast. No I can't say I'm pleased - yet - about this generation when it comes to console games.

I skipped last generation, but I'm making it up this generation the 360 and the Wii and I'm enjoying it greatly.

Other then an RRoD, the 360 has been a dream machine when it comes to the games available. Last fall was just jam packed with hits after hits, and this spring is all about GTA IV.. and on top of that one of my favorite games this generation was on the Wii, and the Wii lets me play games when my gf has company over!! (who cares if its Wii sports or Smarty Pants, I still get to play games!)

Certainly I'd have to say yes. I have been a constant gamer for 35 years but as games got more demanding of time and concentration they became less and less fun to me. Absolutely, if it weren't for the Wii I would be an ex-gamer now.

Instead I have a nice library of games all of which allows me to jump in and have fun even if I only have a half hour. MK and Boom Blox are great examples. So instead of dropping gaming from my life, the Wii has me playing more than ever and enjoying it more than ever.

Yes, I'm loving it.

Gaming has done so well this generation - there're amazing graphics if that's what floats your boat, and there's the Wii, which is ever so much fun and is really expanding the audience of games

Yeah, it's already the best generation yet for me, and it looks like there is a lot more to come (I don't even have SSBB yet!)
