Forums - Gaming - Has gaming left you emotionally scarred?

Hey guys, I was thinking, seeing as though most of us are really passionate about our gaming and can get very attached to the consoles or the games that we love its usually a tragedy if something ever gets miss placed or lost. So I thought lets swap some of those tragic stories!

When I was little and didn’t have a lot of cash but I saved up for a game boy advance link cable and it was so cool! Then one day I took it to a mates place and leant it to him so he could play Pokemon over the weekend with another friend and I never saw it again!!! I still have the box
L.

I also ended a friendship with a mate because he erased my Pokemon card game on the game boy. That was when I was in grade 9 I think, so pokemon was a big thing!!! And I was angry!

I also regret selling super Mario 64 because it was the first n64 game I ever owned!!! And the DS version just doesn’t bring back the memories :’(

But more recently on my honeymoon I left my DS charger behind at the resort!!!! I wanted to blame my wife for not packing it when she packed everything but it was my fault cos it was plugged in behind the TV so there was no chance she would have realised it was there.  It was one of those moments when you realise something is missing and you think “the wife was packing! She left it behind!!!!” and then you remember exactly where you left it and then the blames all on you :(
And I have a story about a mate of mine who left his copy of super smash melee at a friends and his friend sold it on e bay! I had to get his friends sister to get his friend to get him a new one lol

Any way I can deal with loosing stuff now cos I can afford to buy new stuff like the DS chargers lol, but my poor GBA link cable and Mario!!!

Lol, I was really into pokemon too, I still am somewhat, but less so.

Anyhow, this was on my old blue version. I finally got like 3 level 100 pokemon, Blastoise, Alakazam, and Mewtwo I believe it was. So, me and my brother went to our first and only pokemon event that I can remember. We both got legit mews for entering, and we both won all of our matches, it was so cool, anyway, like, the exact same day that all that happened. I started up my blue version in our hotel, and all my data had been erased. I was devastated ; ; lol. I'm not really too sad now, but man, that was horrible, lost my mew and all my other pokemon.

There was other stuff too I'm sure, but I forgot most of it.

When I was young my dad wouldn't let me and my siblings buy consoles because he said that they ruin TVs. So for a long time all I had was a gameboy. Then finally I saved up $100 to buy a Game Gear because it looked awesome since it was in color. When I finally got it, it turned out to be really lame and a total waste of money.

Later me and my brother bought a virtual boy since it was the closest thing to a console our dad would let us buy. I'm sure you all know how big of a flop virtual boy was, so that was a huge waste of money too. Although Wario World for Virtual Boy was pretty sweet.

Luckily when I turned 10 my dad finally changed his mind about consoles and we got an N64.

I have two times that gaming affected me on far to personal a level.

1981-82: Wizardry was a game I was playing 6-8 hours a day for 6 months. I had everything on a floppy as there were no hard drives, and I got a disk read error. lost all my characters (that one hurt).

1995-96. Work and my personal life was greatly effected by my first MMO. Meridian 59.

other then that, nothing has had much of a scaring impact :)

Man I lost my pokemon yellow game to, I was climbing up on my bunk bed and while it was on I bumped it on the edge of the bed and the game turned off and everything was gone!!! I had traded all my good blue version pokemon over to it to, I had mew as well! I was lucky to be in a big city when they had the booths open so I went in and got it for me and a few mates leant me their games to get it for them as well.

Loosing all my pokemon put me off pokemon games ever since, I literally lost 2 games worth of data and couldn’t be bothered doing it all over again! And besides I had some memorable battles with those monsters! My wife also erased my geometry wars game on the ds a few weeks back... that was sad :(

More and more tragedies come to mind as I keep thinking about it!!! noooo Ohhh man! I even just remembered the time by Burn out 3 file got corrupted! argh! And metroid prime 3!!! That game made me start all over again once I beat it (only cos I wanted to do it on a harder difficulty) and now I have nothing on that game to show off to any one!!! :(
